Run 316- 17th February – Spring is (almost) sprung

We were blessed with a beautiful crisp and sunny day, with a promise of spring to come. The bottom of the park remains muddy so we were still on the Winter course, but were maybe able to see the light at the end of the winter tunnel.
Congratulations to Rosie Sheldon, regular run director, who was running her 200th parkrun. Andrew had put his secret cooking skills to good use, and we enjoyed post-run cake thanks to the Sheldon family.
This was a good week for milestones, as another regular volunteer, Joanna Elson, was running her 100th, and Kate and Dan Stolworthy came all the way from Huddersfield to run their 100th, as well as Eliot Toynton visiting us for his 50th. Congratulations to all.
The first runners home were Edward Campbell in 18.31, closely followed by Chris Mattinson in 18.38, and an unknown runner in 3rd. For the ladies, first home for the 3rd time at Ally Pally was junior Mia Manttan in 21.50, followed by Ruth Forbes in 22.15 and Gail Mackie in 23.27.
Mia Manttan was fastest junior, followed by Matthew Sheldon, and Janak Subberwal.
Best age grades were achieved by Caroline White and Mike Hurford.
Many thanks to all our volunteers, including those who stepped up in response to our late Friday plea. It is always good for the run director's blood pressure if we have a full complement of volunteers well before the day, so please consider signing up if you haven't done it before.
