Barking parkrun - Event number 24 - 29th December 2012
So the rain left us alone today, but to stop us getting lonely, did give us his best friend otherwise known as “windy” – so blowy in fact, we kept having to run after bits and pieces flying off! Not a morning to be stood around too long after finishing, as the wind started to pick up as the morning wore on. A good mornings run and I got to talk to a couple of parkrun tourists as well as one lady who was running Barking parkrun for the first time.
First timer to Barking parkrun, and general parkrun tourist Stephen Stockwell surprised even himself by being first over the line this week, in a time of 20:03. Sporting his new trainers courtesy of Sweatshop, (being November Sweatshop winner) Barking parkrun regular Chris Muthaka was second over the line in 22:12. To complete the line up of the first three males, Mahbub Khan (another Barking parkrun regular) crossed the line in 23:03.
Current standing in the Men's annual points competition:

Barking parkrun regular, Amanda Jane Heslegrave of Dagenham 88 Runners, was first female (third overall) to cross the line in 22:30, her thirteenth time in 15 appearances. Nikki Cranmer of Barking Road Runners, was second (9th overall), crossing the line in 26:18 and has been first female finisher previously. Vicki Groves of Barking Road Runners, completed the line up of top three women, finishing in 12th place overall, in a time of 26:45 and has also been first female to finish previously.
