Barrow parkrun #296 – 1st July 2017

Wycombe Wonders

Barrow parkrunners all gather at the bandstand each Saturday morning for a quick briefing before the event and by 09:00 we're off. The course is a challenging but enjoyable 5km undulating 2.5 laps of the park, which if participants remember to look at is very colourful and summery at the moment.
159 participants of all ages and abilities took part this week, a good attendance and up considerably from this time last year. Of all taking part 6 were 1st timers, we hope it's the 1st of many. Tourist parkrunners joined us this week, visitors from Wycombe Rye including Ben Sendall who was 1st to finish in a blistering 16:57, nearly a minute ahead of Ryan Everett who finished 2nd in a very respectable 17:54. 3rd position went to Ian Sadler in19:30. Philip Shrimpton was our 1st junior runner home in 21:32, his 48th parkrun to date. 1st lady to finish was Darina Delinova in 16th position at 22:34. Well done to you all.
28 new personal best times were achieved this morning, weather conditions were ideal, but it takes good attitude and determination to improve your parkrun time, very well done to everyone who did so.
A milestone 50th run was completed today by Karen Herrington, and will be rewarded with a parkrun tshirt supplied by Tribesports. Karen joined the parkrun community in July 2015 and is a regular runner and volunteer. Congratulations Karen.
Much appreciated volunteers make each parkrun happen, this week was no exception with a team of 24 had it covered. From barcode scanners to marshalls, Run director to results processor, thank you very much.
Parkrun is open to all, if you'd like to give it a try please register here - http://www.parkrun.org.uk/register/, under 11's need to be within arms reach of their responsible adult, you can run as fast as you can or walk as leisurely as you like, even walk a pet on a short lead. It's a great way to get fit and meet new people.
See you next week, and don't forget your barcode!
