Barrow parkrun 309

The morning run started with a poignant moment as a single red balloon was released into the sky to celebrate the birthday of the late Jake Ellis.  Members of the Team Jake charity took part in the run and money left over from the 6th anniversary party will be donated to this charity.

We celebrated the milestone runs this morning of Jamie O'Hare,100 runs, Steve Batty, 200 runs and the 10th birthday of junior runner Ryan Bentley, congratulations on your personal best Ryan.  Thank you to Jamie for the cakes that we all enjoyed at the cafe after the run, and congratulations on your PB.

This week 168 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 16 were first timers and 32 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 11 different clubs took part.

The event was made possible by 22 volunteers, thank you for all your encouragement especially when the rain started, and a big thank you to 'The 3 Wise Monkeys' at the bottom of the cenotaph hill, there was plenty of cheeky encouragement today.

We welcome children at parkrun. Please note that those under the age of 11 must be within arm's reach of a parent, guardian or designated adult of the parents' choice whilst attending 5k parkrun events. It must also be ensured that children place themselves appropriately at the start so as to prevent a situation where they are being repeatedly overtaken. This is to ensure the safety of your child.

See you all soon

Mike & Louise Cook
