Barrow parkrun – 319
A very cold start to our run with temperatures hitting zero and then hail coming down hard and settling on our course making the conditions a little tricky, particularly coming down the cenotaph hill. Despite the wintry weather we still had 125 running, jogging or walking the 5k course with 6 people joining us for the first time and 17 people achieving new Personal Best times.
Well done to junior runner Poppy Gomersall who ran her fastest time wearing her new 10th parkrun t-shirt and took 46 seconds off, giving her a time of 30:59. Also to Lucy Montague who only recently started running with us and after 8 runs she has achieved 7 new Pbs and took her time from 30:39 to 24:50 in the space of 2 months.
It was a milestone run for junior runner Milly Dickinson who completed her 50th run and also for Alfie Dale who completed his 10th run. Well done and be sure to look out for your email that will allow you to order your technical t-shirt.
Stu Wallace also formally handed over Event Director responsibilities to Donna Bates and Fiona Bannister as he stepped down to take over the junior parkrun event. This is an event that is aimed at children between 4-14 years old and is a 2k course on Sunday at 9am. More information about this event can be found at http://www.parkrun.org.uk/barrow-juniors/.
Finally a big thanks to all those people that volunteered, we could not run this event without you. If you can help out please drop an email to Donna at firstname.lastname@example.org or let us know on facebook. We also need helpers for the junior event so if you can help out, please message Stu on email@example.com.
