Barrow parkrun – event 342

Nick EmersonBarrow parkrun – event 342
A glorious summer’s day with the sun shining and 195 runners/walkers taking part in the 5k route around Barrow park. A good number of the runners also took part in the Dalton 10k or the 1 mile fun run on Friday night so well done to those that managed to do both.

We had 15 first timers and 34 people recording new Personal Bests. A special mention to Nick Emerson who knocked 1 min and 44 seconds of his previous best time – he has come such a long way from when he first started doing parkrun in 2016 and is now running the course 10 mins faster.

And well done to our 24 lovely volunteers;

Fiona BANNISTER • David FARISH • Donna BATES • David SPENCER • Michael COOK • Patrick THOMAS • Stephen BANNISTER • Michael John HALL • Raymond ROBB • David James MARR • Sarah CUBISS • Alfie CUBISS • Annette HIGGINS • Bernice WOODHOUSE • Rachel TEIJLINGEN-BELL • Michael HIGGINS • Philip EVERETT • John WEARING • Fred BAGLEY • Philip BLACKBURN • Laura LEIGH • Owen BAXENDALE • Sian LITTLEMORE • Justine BLACKBURN

If you want to help out, please email or come along and ask a high-vis wearer for details.

Parkrun reward people with t-shirts once they meet certain milestones. These include 10 (just the junior runners) then 50, 100, 250 and 500. Surprisingly, we had no milestone runs this week but next week it looks like Amy and Edward Singleton along with Phil Low will be celebrating their 100th run which should means cake with coffee, post run.
