Barrow parkrun 361
This Saturday 6th October 2018, parkrunners around the world celebrated International parkrun Day, marking 14 years since the very first event took place in London’s Bushy Park.
Since then, parkrun has grown to more than 1,650 events each week in 20 countries worldwide, with around 270,000 walkers, joggers, runners and volunteers every weekend.
In Barrow we celebrated milestone 50 runs for Dave Howie and Neil Cooke, congratulations to you both. We welcomed tourists from the east coast and as far away as Plymouth.

Saturday 3rd November - Junior volunteer week, when all the juniors show us all how it's done.
This week 177 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 8 were first timers and 17 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 8 different clubs took part.

The male record is held by Phil WAITE who recorded a time of 15:12 on 3rd October 2015 (event number 206).
The Age Grade course record is held by Lizzie BROWNE who recorded 90.24% (16:24) on 21st January 2012 (event number 17).
Barrow parkrun started on 24th September 2011. Since then 4,166 participants have completed 44,997 parkruns covering a total distance of 224,985 km, including 7,581 new Personal Bests.

We welcome children at parkrun. Please note that those under the age of 11 must be within arm's reach of a parent, guardian or designated adult of the parents' choice whilst attending 5k parkrun events. It must also be ensured that children place themselves appropriately at the start so as to prevent a situation where they are being repeatedly overtaken. This is to ensure the safety of your child.
