Barrow parkrun event number 365, 3rd November 2018
Barrow Park may have been a bit chilly on November 3 but at least the rain managed to stay away long enough for 163 runners, walkers and joggers to make it round our undulating course.
Nov 3 was junior volunteer week at Barrow parkrun, and the event saw almost all the volunteering positions filled by youngsters, ably assisted by the occasional grown-up.
Without volunteers parkrun simply could not take place, so it was brilliant to see the next generation of runners leading by example and giving up a little bit of their Saturday to make the event possible. Big thanks to all of you.
This week Barrow welcomed 15 first timers, and 22 people recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 13 different clubs took part.
Runners completing a milestone event this week included Nathan Pears, a junior completing his tenth 5k parkrun, Viky Donnelly and Julie Wilson each completing their 50th parkrun and Jo Waddington hitting 100.
The event was made possible by 27 volunteers:
David FARISH • Donna BATES • Michael COOK • Kieran BANNISTER • Claire THOMSON • Susan BIRKBY • Jakob NELSON • Freyah NELSON • John WEARING • Fred BAGLEY • Paul BAXENDALE • Amy SINGLETON • Edward SINGLETON • Erin SINGLETON • Milly DICKINSON • Susan CLARKSON • Eve Munro CLARKSON • Izak BAXENDALE • Iona BAXENDALE • Lydia BLACKBURN • Alexia BLACKBURN • Alfie DALE • Ann HORTON • Tom MORTLOCK-JACKSON • Niamh MCNALLY • Lewis CLARKSON • Amber CAPSTICK

We welcome children at parkrun. Please note that those under the age of 11 must be within arm's reach of a parent, guardian or designated adult of the parents' choice whilst attending 5k parkrun events. It must also be ensured that children place themselves appropriately at the start so as to prevent a situation where they are being repeatedly overtaken. This is to ensure the safety of your child.
