July parkrunner of the month – Barrow

Gavin Smith has been selected as the July parkrunner of the month - well done!

In July he achieved four new Pbs, knocking off 3 mins and 50 seconds of his month's time and in his 12 runs to date he has reduced his time by 6 mins.  Keep up the great work Gavin and we look forward to seeing your new trainers shortly.

As always we'd like to thank Sweatshop for their generosity, the prize is a new pair of trainers, to be fitted at a local sweatshop or ordered online if he can't make it.

The winner is chosen by the event directors or members of the committee designated by them. The successful candidates are often chosen for their perseverance, number of PBs in one month, total number of runs and improvement overall. However, we can award the prize for other reasons at our discretion. If you know someone who has overcome adversity, personal illness or is deserving in any other way, please let us know by emailing barrowoffice@parkrun.com

March Barrow parkrunner of the month

Kathryn and Julian

We are pleased to announce junior runner Kathryn Bell as the Sweatshop Prize Winner for the month of March.

Kathryn, along with her family, are all regular parkrunners and volunteers.  The 11 year old achieved 3 Pbs in the month of March alone reducing her time by just under 2 mins and in her 12 runs since she started with parkrun 50% of them has resulted in new PBs.  The determination of the youngest never goes unnoticed and the sheer elation she exhibits in her eyes and face after she finishes makes this runner truly deserving of pair of brand new trainers.

Cancellation of run #68

Unfortunately we had to cancel the parkrun this morning. There was too much ice on the course including the cenotaph hill. Obviously the safety of all our runners is of paramount importance and these decisions are not taken lightly. We hope to see you all next week.
