Basingstoke parkrun is a free weekly timed 5K around the award winning War Memorial Park situated at the ‘top of town’ in Basingstoke, Hampshire.

The parkrun concept was brought to Basingstoke to make life a lot easier for runners in and around Hampshire who were looking to take part in one of these events. Before Basingstoke the nearest parkrun events were those in London and Brighton-and-Hove.

The run is not a race, however it is there as an event that can be used as the individual needs. Some runners come to try their hand at their first 5K and discover their pace; others come to better their previous performance; but others may use this as part of their training regime and enjoy the social aspect.

The most important thing to remember is the run welcomes runners of all abilities, and all are encouraged to come and complete the course.

The event was established and is organised by volunteers who have an interest in health, fitness and running. Come rain or shine these volunteers turn up every Saturday morning to mark the way round the course and time the runners. We would like to thank all the volunteers who have given up their time to make this event possible.
