Christmas Eve parkrun

Don't forget that it's FANCY DRESS WEEK at Blackhill on 24th December, we would love to see lots of Santas, Elves, Angels, Donkeys, Wise Men (oops that may be difficult!!!!), Christmas Trees & Presents running and volunteering. Tinsel, Baubles, Christmas Jumpers and Hats also worth seeing. Don't forget all you men still have plenty of time to start your Christmas shopping after our event. Hope to see yet another fantastic turnout to start a Merry weekend.

Blackhill parkrun 26th November 2017

Blackhill parkrun is CANCELLED tomorrow due to icy conditions. Our runner's and volunteers safety is of utmost importance and due to the expected overnight slump in temperatures (bearing in mind it's barely reached above 0 degrees today!) it is simply too slippery places to risk going ahead.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support

Christmas & New Year 2015 at Blackhill

The Blackhill parkrun core team have decided that they will run be no run on either Christmas Day or New Years Day this year.

Christmas Day and New Year Day parkruns are optional 'extras' to the parkrun calendar and it is up to each event team if they choose to hold events on these days. Whilst Blackhill are not holding an event on these days, please look at parkrun.com to see which of the other local events are.

All is not lost though as the following IS happening at Blackhill.
19th December Christmas fancy dress run (YES volunteers in fancy dress as well)
26th December Normal Saturday Event, Bowls Club will be open for Refreshments
2nd January Normal Saturday Event (Bowls Club, as normal)

Ho ho ho!

Saturday 14th November 2015

Dear Blackhill parkrunners,

Some of our regular runners and volunteers have decided to support a cake sale in the Bowls Club after our event this Saturday. The money raised by the Bowls Club will be split between two worthy causes, the first being Children in Need, the second, our Blackhill parkrun fund.

Each parkrun event has its own fund to which you can donate  – Your donation could be used for the anniversary event, the annual prize giving, replacing worn equipment, or for improving your parkrun. We would welcome any donations to enable us  to purchase our very own parkrun flag to fly at the Start/Finish area (you may have seen these at other parkrun events).

Donations to the Blackhill parkrun fund can actually be made at any time. Just visit the “about us” page on the Blackhill parkrun website.

www.parkrun.org.uk/blackhill/aboutus/

Also, as Children in Need this year has a “hero” theme please feel free to bring your children (or indeed yourself) dressed as their favourite superhero.

So see you on the start line and remember to bring some pennies for tea and cake to support the Bowls Club after our event.

Birthday No.2 – 11th July 2015

This weekend we are 2!!
To celebrate we are inviting those of you who wish to, to run in fancy dress (any excuse for fancy dress! That includes all of our fab volunteers too!!!)
There will be presentations in the bowls club afterwards and we would love as many of you to join us as possible.
Oh, and there'll be cake. Obviously.

Saturday 4th July 2015 – EVENT No.100

This Saturday will be our 100th Event at Blackhill, to celebrate this special milestone we would like to make this a Black & Gold (or Yellow) day. So please dig out your T-shirts, vests, shorts, socks or trainers to help celebrate this occasion. Hopefully the sun will shine to help make this a Golden day.

Blackhill parkrun CANCELLED 17th January 2015

Blackhill parkrun is CANCELLED tomorrow due to icy conditions.

Our runner's safety is of utmost importance and it is simply too icy in places to risk going ahead.
Why not indulge in some parkrun tourism elsewhere in the north east?

December 13 parkrun Event

Unfortunately due to dangerous icy conditions on the course, we have to advise that Blackhill parkrun will not take place on Saturday December 13th 2014. The safety of all runners and volunteers is of paramount importance to us and with this in mind the event will be cancelled this weekend.

Winter parkruns at Blackhill

As we are now well into the SNOW & ICE season we at Blackhill would like to advise all parkrunners that we will only go ahead with our Free weekly event if the conditions are completely safe for all runners and volunteers. We will be checking weather reports (in particular icy conditions) regularly and will make inspections of our route at regular intervals to allow our event to go-ahead. In the unfortunate occasion that we may have to cancel any event we will post both on our website and facebook pages - this may be as late as 8.00am on the Saturday morning!!!! To save unnecessary journeys please check these posts regularly.

Thank You
