Important – Volunteers Needed

Bradford parkrun is a free, weekly, timed, 5km run in Lister Park. The event is run by volunteers, without them there would be no parkrun.

Our volunteers are required for no longer than one and a half hours on a Saturday morning. There are many roles to choose from which are all very easy to carry out and full training is given on the day.

Our volunteers wear hivis jackets so that you can easily find them if needed. We ask you to arrive at the finish for 08:30 on the morning of the run where you will be briefed and handed one of the jackets.

This image on the shows how many registrations there have been at Bradford parkrun, how many runs completed, and how many people have volunteered.

This is visible to everyone on the parkrun wiki. You can see that 11,557 people have registered at Bradford parkrun since it began back in April 2010, 10,521 of those have participated in a parkrun event that we have held and only 988 of those have ever volunteered.

I send out the volunteer roster to those who have opted into receiving it through email on a Sunday evening, this allows you to see what roles are needed for the next Bradford parkrun and easily email the role you would like to do. You can opt into the email by following these simple steps:

1 - Click on ‘volunteer opt-in’ on the top right corner of the email version of your weekly newsletter.
2 - Choose the events you’d like to hear from on the drop-down menu.
3 - Click opt-in after each of those.
4 - Click "save opt-in events list".

Without our required 20 volunteers our events can't go ahead. If everyone volunteered at parkrun 3 times a year there would be plenty of volunteers to go ahead every week. Please email me at bradfordhelpers@parkrun.com after looking at the volunteer roster here.

Future Weeks:

17 vacant volunteer slots on 4th March
18 vacant volunteer slots on 11th March
Saltaire Striders club takeover on 18th March
18 vacant volunteer slots on 25th March
If you can help on any of these weeks or another week, please email email me on the above email.

*Please remember that no volunteers means no parkrun. Please volunteer in the next few weeks if you have not volunteered before, its fun, easy and everyone appreciates it.*

Run report 6/2/2016

Well folks, it was another soggy one but that didn't dampen the spirits of our wonderful team of volunteers! This week there were 399 runners, of whom 47 were first timers and 74 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 28 different athletics clubs took part and we welcomed a few parkrun tourists as well.

Volunteers

We rely on our wonderful volunteers so remember to put your name down for a future week- just email bradfordhelpers@parkrun.com or put your name in the volunteer book which is always at the finish area.

Milestones

Ben Watson of Baildon Runners completed his 100th parkrun

Alastair Leitch completed his 100th parkrun

Jon Harris completed his 50th parkrun

Baber Hussain completed his 50th parkrun

Congratulations to you all, keep a look out in your parkrun profile under 'milestones' when you can order your club t shirt

Funnel duckers

Once again this week there were 'funnel duckers' PLEASE PLEASE everyone when you cross the finish line, you must continue right through the funnel and collect your finish token. EVEN IF you don't have your barcode or you don't want your time... stay in line in the funnel, collect your finish token then just drop the finish token off at the scanning table.....simples!

When you go past the timer on the finish line you will be allocated a time. If you then double back out or duck out of the funnel the times and positions don't match up and you affect the time of every single runner after you.

PLEASE understand when runners are finishing, especially at peak finishing times the timer really has to concentrate. Don't stop to ask what your time was and please don't take offence when the timer is shouting to everyone to move down as there are finishers piling up behind you at the finish line.

Male placings:

Will KERR (VM35-39) of Saltaire Striders, was first over the line in 17:51 - 54th time in 84 appearances.

Rick JENNER (VM35-39) of Ranelagh Harriers, was third over the line in 18:26.

Lesley WATSON (VW40-44) of Bingley Harriers and AC, was first (19th overall) over the line in 20:55 - second time in 8 appearances.
Stephanie NIVEN (SW30-34) of Saltaire Striders, was second (58th overall) over the line in 23:04 - was first to finish once before.
Jennifer BATTERSBY (VW40-44) of Wharfedale Harriers, was third (59th overall) over the line in 23:07.

The following runners recorded the best Age Grade scores:

Keith MCGHIE (VM55-59) was graded 80.31% for the time 19:18 (7th overall).
Helen LOVE (VW55-59) was graded 76.23% for the time 24:24 (92nd overall).
