So this morning saw Bramley parkrun’s first birthday arrive, a whole 12 months since Graham saw his hard work and determination to get a park run to the Bramley community pay off!
With the Queen celebrating her birthday it was decided that the colours red, white and blue to run in fitted nicely with our birthday celebrations.
177 runners came out and ran this morning, with an incredible 32 first time runners, and an absolutely phenomenal 49 PBs achieved, and they say course B is our PB course!
First home was Robert Blemings from St Theresa’s AC, with a PB of 18.48. Second home was Michael Bowen, a first timer in 19.07 and third home was David Semmence with a PB of 19.24. David also received a medal as the first placed male in the Bramley parkrun points table 2015/2016, I’m sure you’ll all support me as I send him our congratulations.
First placed female home was Tara Stott, again another first timer, from Low Fell RC, with a time of 22.23. Second home was Angela Pattinson from the Horsforth Harriers with a PB of 22.31 and third home was Joanna Shevlin of the Horsforth Harriers with a PB of 24.11.
Well done to all of you that not only came out and got PB’s today but all those that came out and ran with us for the first time. We will look forward to having you back week after week.
There were 12 unknown runners this week, if you want to get your name on that board and get yourself one parkrun closer to an official parkrun t-shirt award please remember that without your barcode you do not get a time. If it makes it easier bob onto the parkrun website and get yourself a plastic barcode or wristband ordered, if not please remember your paper one.
Following on from parkrun there was a fantastic turnout down at Bramley Baptist Church for the birthday party where there was cake, cake, sandwiches and more cake. Graham and Lisa were presented with a bottle of something fizzy to take home and enjoy as a thank you for all their hard work and dedication to parkrun; I certainly wouldn’t be where I am now if it wasn’t for them setting it up, so a big thank you goes out from me as I’m sure it does from everyone else who participates weekly.
Our resident photographer Simon Cullingworth was also presented with a thank you award. Simon is there week after week come rain or sunshine to take the photos he doe;, somewhere along the way, he will have captured you. Go have a look on the facebook page and see if you can spot yourself.
Carol Ramsden was voted our volunteer of the year and a fine one she is too, with her very own corner in the park Carol along with all of our volunteers does a sterling job weekly, cheering everyone as they run past her.
Young Luke Cullingworth was voted young parkrunner of the year, ending 2015/2016 on a time of 26.32 - a massive well done Luke.
We are still after volunteers in the future so if you fancy hanging up your running shoes for the day then give Graham a shout, please remember that without volunteers parkrun doesn’t happen.
Hope everyone has a great week
Charlee & Team Bramley.
