We all celebrated the 14th anniversary of the first ever park run. It is also the week when the 5,000,000th runner registered. Imagine being no. A5000000! I heard Paul Sinton Hewitt, the founder of parkrun, celebrating this on Radio 5 on Friday morning. He was delighted that the average speed had changed from 22mins on that first Saturday morning to 29 minutes now. He is so pleased that parkrun is encouraging more and more people to exercise and socialise!
It was Peter Mayhew’s birthday.
On a rather grey damp morning 241 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 27 were first timers and 31 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 19 different clubs took part.
