Third anniversary start line

About Us

Bushy parkrun is a FREE weekly 5km event for runners of all standards, which takes place every Saturday at 9am in Bushy Park, Teddington.

It is not a race against other runners, but a 5k timed run and it can really be whatever you want it to be, whether that's for fun or as part of a training plan.

It offers an opportunity for all the local community, male or female, young or old, to come together on a regular basis to enjoy this beautiful park and get physically active into the bargain. We want to encourage people to jog or run together irrespective of their ability – this event is truly open to all and best of all it really is FREE!

Taking part is easy – just register before your first ever parkrun. The great thing is that you only ever need to do this once! Then just set your alarm for Saturday morning and get yourself there!

After the run, if you don’t have to get off straight away, there will be the chance to socialise with everyone at The Pheasantry Cafe in the park (see Course Page for location), to maybe swap stories about your run that day, chat to other runners over a cup of tea or coffee and just be an important part of this new running community.

So whether you are a complete novice looking to get yourself started on your own "running journey" or a seasoned athlete wanting to use this as a part of your training schedule, you’re welcome to come along and join us.

Bushy parkrun Prizes

At the Bushy parkrun we strive to introduce new people to running. We encourage regular running activity, dedication and the attainment of goals. We don’t set these goals for you - you do that yourself! We are most positive about helping the everyday runner.

In support of this, we are pleased to announce the following awards:

Points

Every year, at our anniversary, we present the John Hanscomb trophy and the Sonia O'Sullivan salver to the highest male and female scorer on the points prize table. In addition to these prizes, we issue a number of other prizes.

Explanation of the Points Prizes

After each run we separate the men & women into their own categories. For each category, starting at 250 for the first runner to finish we allocate a score to each finisher, reducing the score by one point until one point. Thereafter you score one point.

So, if you were the 15th finisher in your category you scored 236 points. If you were the 250th finisher in your category you score one point.  Runeers are also awarded full points for volunteering on up to a maximum of three occasions per year.
You can review individual points per run on the results page.

Monthly Prize

The Sweatshop prize is awarded monthly. The winner is decided at our discretion and will be announced at the first run of every month.  It is awarded to encourage dedication to Bushy parkrun, consistency and improvement over the month.  The prize is a new pair of running shoes, provided and fitted by the Teddington Sweatshop.

Volunteer!

Bushy parkrun relies on volunteers for all its organisation.

If you aren't running and can spare some time on a Saturday, then please get in touch via bushyHelpers@parkrun.com - every helper is valued.

Also, if you have any other ideas or any other times or skills you'd like to offer to Bushy parkrun, then please let us know - email bushyOffice@parkrun.com.

Thanks to all those who've volunteered in the past - without you there wouldn't be a Bushy parkrun!
