Godiva Rides Again – be there!

On Saturday 10 August 2013 Godiva will make her triumphant return to her home town Coventry aboard her Cyclopedia with a cavalcade of cyclists, walkers and runners joining her on Coventry’s iconic ring road.

Throughout the day cyclists of all abilities are invited to take part in two Ride the Ring Road waves during the morning before joining Godiva’s cavalcade.

Ride the Ring Road will be followed by the Godiva Cavalcade with a procession of walkers, runners and cyclists who will join Godiva as she completes a single lap of honour around the ring road on her Cyclopedia as part of her homecoming celebrations.

No pre-registration is required to take part in the Cavalcade but as places are limited it is suggested that participants do pre-register to avoid disappointment.

The event is open to all ages, walkers, runners and cyclists must be a minimum of 8 years old and participants aged 12 and under must be accompanied by two responsible persons aged 16 plus on a one to two basis, two adults to one child. There is no upper age limit and the event is completely free!

To find out more and to register go to www.imagineerproductions.co.uk

The Sphinx AC Summer 5

Image: The Sphinx AC Summer 5Entries are now being taken for the Sphinx AC Summer 5. The race takes place at 19:45 on Wednesday 29 June in the Coventry Memorial Park.

In recognition of the value that parkrun has brought to the local running scene and also to encourage some of the experienced-but-unaffiliated runners to try a slightly further distance in a more competitive environment Sphinx AC are offering unaffiliated parkrunners a discounted entry of £8.

The £8 entry only applies to face-to-face registrations taken on Saturday 18 and 25 June at the Memorial Park (ie it doesn't apply to mailed-in, on-the-day or online entries).

Sphinx AC will have an information/registration desk at the finish area of the Coventry parkrun on Saturday 18 June and Saturday 25 June

All entries on the day will £10.

Coventry parkrun Run Free – 4 June 2011

Come along to the Coventry parkrun "run free" Event and join others for a great morning in the War Memorial Park.

The Coventry parkrun “Run Free” day is parkrun with a twist! The twist is that we are looking to see how many first timers we can get to take part on this day and we will celebrate with a bring-and-share picnic style breakfast/brunch after the parkrun. Bring a picnic rug and some tasty treats and drink to share after the parkrun.

This event is supported by one of the parkrun sponsors Lucozade and hopefully we will have a representative on the day who will give out some Lucozade goodies.

We want you to have a fun morning and it will therefore be a fancy dress run and we encourage you to join in - of course this is optional!

The parkrun that embraces run free the most (so we want to see lots of runners in fancy dress, cakes, biscuits, that extra bit of sparkle!) will receive a special prize –parkrun PLUS!! Two weeks after run free we will invite Olympian Liz Yelling to start your event, provide product and medals for all your runners, a bag drop area, refreshments, photographer, pacers and much more!!

Not stopping there however, for an individual touch Lucozade are also creating a special photo gallery on facebook to showcase what runners wore to your parkrun on Saturday 4 June. The best one as selected by our panel of esteemed judges will win a Sweatshop voucher worth £150!

We will run the event in exactly the same way that we usually do. Everyone taking part needs to be registered and must bring their personal barcode to the event to ensure their run is recorded.

Invite your family and friends to take part or support you at Coventry parkrun run free on 4 June, it will be a great time for friends and families to get together and celebrate parkrun and hopefully the sun will shine!

Sphinx cross-country event, Saturday 15 January

A message from Sphinx AC (http://www.sphinx.org.uk)

"Sphinx AC are hosting the next Birmingham & District Cross Country meeting (third division) at Wyken Croft on Saturday 15 January. The general public can't enter this race but it's a great (free!) spectator event.

The women's race starts at 1:45pm and the men's race starts at 2:30pm.

It'd be great to get some support from our parkrun friends, as a well-timed cheer really can spur you on if you're starting to flag a bit!

If you're interested in getting into cross country then the best way in is by joining a club such as Sphinx AC. Just ask any of the marshals or runners at the event or any Saturday morning at the parkrun. We're the ones in blue and yellow and we don't bite!"

26 September 2010 – Kenilworth Half Marathon

Kenilworth Runners are pleased to announce that the Kenilworth Half Marathon will be once again returning to the Warwickshire countryside for it's 10th running on Sunday 26th September 2010. This year the race is part of the Warwickshire Road Race league and also hosts the County Half Marathon championship.

The Kenilworth Half Marathon follows a pleasant course through the Warwickshire countryside and is popular with runners of all abilities each year, recently being voted into the prestigious Runners World Top 50 races list where the event was praised by the magazine for 'efficient organisation, a friendly atmosphere and a scenic but undulating out-and-back course'.

Kenilworth Runners anticipate reaching full race capacity this year and therefore strongly recommend that you get your entries in early to secure your place and avoid dissappointment.
