I do love Sunday mornings seeing all the smiling faces eager and ready for Gedling junior parkrun. This week we had 62 juniors walking, jogging and running around our course. We welcomed 11 first timers.
We were warmed up helped by our fabulous Duke of Edinburgh volunteers who were demonstrating their range of swimming strokes on dry land! If any juniors would like to lead our warm up please let the run director know. It will count as a volunteer credit and when you have volunteered 25 times you get a lovely purple parkrun T shirt.
7 of the juniors achieved their personal best this week.
Chloe joins the half marathon wristband club and Finn and Joe joined the marathon wristband club. Finn was also first finisher and got a personal best so it was a terrific week for Finn! Well done all of you. Not all of you came to get your wrist bands off the run director so let us know next time you come to junior parkrun. Did you know that our juniors at Gedling junior parkrun have now ran a total distance of 8156km over our 72 events? Wow! That is amazing! To allow our junior parkrun to go ahead we have our fabulous volunteers in the hi-vis. This week we say a big thank you to Olivia and Sarah terrifically timekeeping, Jon and James brilliantly bar code scanning, Jenny and Jack being fabulous on the funnel and Nicola being a terrific tail walker. The magnificent marshals were Peter, Peter, Peter, (yes we had the 3 Peters marshalling again!) Kelly, Rob, Samantha, Catherine, Emma, Dave and Libby. Henry sorted the tokens out, Evie had her first attempt at processing the results and Helen was your run director.
Please let us know if you can help volunteer next week, we would love your help. Tamsin is your run director next week and I know she is looking forward to seeing you all!
