Event 73 – 24th September 2017

What a fabulous start to Sunday junior parkrun was! There were road closures due to the Robin Hood Marathon and lots of regulars and volunteers were getting involved with the mini marathon, half marathon, marathon and epic 24 hour running event at Belvoir Castle. Even so the Gedling juniors community stepped up to make sure that all 57 wonderful juniors had a great run.

The warm up was lead by Theo and Jacob, demonstrating immense teamwork to make sure we all got off to a flying start.

Caleb was presented with his half marathon wristband for completing his 11th run. And is also looks like Jasmine who was visiting us from Hucknall Juniors was due her wristband too so make sure you ask your Run Director next time you are at a junior event.

And talking of visitors, we welcomed some from Rushcliffe who were cancelled as well as some tourists from Hucknall. But there were also a whopping 11 children brand new to parkrun who chose the hills of Gedling as their first experience - welcome to parkrun and we can't wait to see you again soon! Seven of you managed Personal Beest times this week, including Jacob who finished 2nd, pictured here with first placed Oliver.

Here are some of our fabulous volunteers who make it all happen. We just love watching your smiles as your cross the line, it really sets us up for the day. Ella was also joining us for the first time as a volunteer to complete her Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award. She joins our other regular Duke of Edinburgh volunteers without whom we'd struggle to put the event on - thank you, you are all fab (even you Megaphone James!)

Just a reminder that Junior parkrun is for children between the age of 4 and 14. Anyone presenting a barcode for a senior runner aged 15 or over will be automatically removed from the results. Our 5km event on a Sunday is open to juniors too, the only requirement is that under 11s must be within arm's length of their responsible adult.

And another reminder that if you are unhappy about your photo being included in the run report, or on our flickr page, please get in touch with us at gedling-juniorsoffice@parkrun.com

That's all from Run Director Tamsin, I'll pass over to Olivia who will be donning the blue Run Director's tent next week!
