Rain rain go away, come again another day....the rain was not going to spoil our fun and it didn't spoil yours either as a whopping 48 of you braved the grey skies to run walk and jog the course on the hills!
When the volunteers arrived, it was looking a bit bleak with only a few cars in the car park and a very quiet play area. We were all debating on how quite it was going to be this morning and then slowly but surely you all started to arrive and we were delighted at seeing you all on such a grotty morning. The run briefing was done in what felt like record time and Fleur did a great job warming up to get you all started. No wrist bands to hand out today so let the run director know if you are due one in the next few weeks, 11 runs for a half marathon, 21 for a marathon and 50 for a full marathon wristband.
The results show four first timers who braved the rain, welcome and we hope to see you again, and a fabulous ten of you achieved a personal best! It was wonderful to see so many of your grown ups joining in to so well done to you all for keeping up with your juniors. Just a reminder, we had quite a few grown ups running into the funnel today which can be a bit confusing for our timekeepers when they are timing the juniors in, please remember to step around the funnel to let the juniors finish and get the cheers and recognition all by themselves.
A big thank you to our hi-vis volunteers who turned up in the rain to help set up the course and pack away afterwards, you are brilliant! James and Orla were on timekeeping, Roger, Peter, Sarah, Kelly, Nicola, Amanda, James, Robert and Sam all marshalled, Fleur and Jonathan scanned barcodes, Jack managed the funnel, Helen, Ella and Niamh tail walked, Fleur did the warm up and Olivia was run directing.
Next week we will hopefully be basking in the sunshine without the grey clouds so join us then for another Sunday junior parkrun where Sarah will be wearing the run director vest.
Have a good week
