A beautiful crisp November morning greeted 301 parkrunners this week. Chilly but beautiful! The second week of the ‘new course’, went without hitch despite less volunteers and slightly more apprehension from RD Jo. I enjoyed volunteering this morning and getting to hear all the comments being made about the new course. Some people love the new ‘hills’, others wondering which RD was cruel enough to design it! On the whole though, positive feedback all round.
If you run with a dog at Graves – please read the notices at the end of this run report.
There were 39 first timers this week.

As ever, a massive thanks to the volunteers this week – remember, without them, there can be no parkrun. Last week was an amazing week for volunteers in order to get the new course off the ground whereas this week Jo was pretty worried about having enough. We need a minimum of 8 marshals each week now to safely run the course as well as all the other crucial roles. Please consider giving it a go if you haven’t already. We are a friendly bunch with informative lanyards for all roles!
The volunteer heroes this week were:
Mathew ATKIN, Magdalena BOO, Erica BRAMHALL, Matthew BROWN, Nick CROWNSHAW, Cath DAVIES, Yvonne DAVIES, Jo ECCLES, David EGAN, Jane EVANS, Keith FORWARD, Andes GEIGER, Stephen GILMER, Everything's Run GREEN, Paul HIGGINBOTTOM, Marie HIPPEY, Jon HOWSON, Charlie LAST, Andy LEDBETTER, Catherine NEEDHAM, Gavin NEWHOUSE, Graham NIELD, Francesca ROOKER, Stuart ROOKER, David SHEPPARD, Roger WALTERS
Don’t forget, parkrun ask for just 3 volunteer stints a year. That’s not much to give back if you enjoy your parkrunning!
It’s easy to volunteer, just leave a message on the Graves parkrun Facebook page or e-mail the Graves team on: firstname.lastname@example.org or see our volunteer page for details on getting involved in making Graves parkrun happen.

We had a bumper crop of milestones this week. Congratulations to Marek TAYLOR who completed his junior 10th run; Meadow CROWTHER and Emma GOODLIFFE completed their 50th runs and Chloe HENSHAW, Ian CROWTHER, Chris MATTINSON and Stephen GILMER all completed their 100th runs. Special mention to Stephen Gilmer who had meticulously planned a triple milestone event this week. His 100th run coincided with his 50th run at Graves and also he equalled his total runs with 100 volunteers as well! Many months of planning! Well done all!

Notices: Please read if you run with a dog at Graves parkrun!
The doggy detour is no more… the course is inclusive to all including dogs however:
After some incidents involving dogs on cani cross style waistbands we have taken the decision to ban the use of waistbands at Graves parkrun. We have consulted with parkrun HQ who have given us permission to ban cani cross style waistbands. This is not uncommon practice and we did not wish to ban dogs completely. We hope that as many of our dog owning participants can continue to run at Graves whilst we maintain our responsibility on safety to all other participants. Please only run with one dog on a short hand held lead.
We anticipate that this may take some time to bed in and we will be working to publicise this further. It will be included in the First Timers Briefing, the main Run briefing and marshals will be asked to politely speak with people who attempt to run with cani cross style waistbands.
We are entering the winter months and due to the high position of Graves, we do occasionally have to cancel. Please keep your eye on our facebook page for updates as the weather gets colder, icier and inevitably snowier!!
Any suggestions or tips, please e-mail email@example.com
As usual, the event would not run anywhere near as well without the wonderful group of volunteers that Graves parkrun attracts. Please remember it’s easy to volunteer, just leave a message on the Graves parkrun Facebook page or e-mail the Graves team on: firstname.lastname@example.org or See our volunteer page for details on getting involved in making Graves parkrun happen.
