They Breed ‘em Tough in Yorkshire!

Event #338

In his blue and white vest for the first time, Stephen our newest run director welcomed everyone to a cold and windy 338thGraves Parkrun.

153 runners turned out to conquer the elements and listened to a well-rehearsed run briefing: a great update on the course conditions, under 11s run with your responsible adult, dogs are welcome on a short lead held in your hand, and don’t duck the funnel. The crowd eagerly joined in with the mantra that it’s a “run not a race” and then we were off! An amazing number of people had their legs out despite the forecast snow.

He thought he got away with it, but we highlighted Andy’s birthday and I know for certain that he got at least one round of Happy Birthday sung at him and his face said it all!

(For anyone wanting to know about Goalball have a look at this great video on the Goalball UK website. http://www.goalballuk.com/the-sport/)

A big thank you to this week’s volunteers, with a special shout out to the Sheffield Good Gym group. Parkrun can’t operate without wonderful people making it happen so have a look at the future roster to see if you can help out. http://www.parkrun.org.uk/graves/futureroster/ If you are nervous about taking on a new role, the volunteers meet beforehand and will walk you through it…so give it a go!  The heroes of this week are:
