Grovelands parkrun, Enfield Event number 340 – 28th January 2017

Grovelands parkrun, Enfield

This weekend reminded me why I enjoy being a Run Director. Celebrating the milestones of Josh Gilmore (10) Eileen Stewart (50) Vik Medenis (100) and Dee Churchill (100) with delicious cake; a fantastic volunteer team (Vanessa ANTHONY, Shahid AWAN, Nyah CHURCHILL, Chris COLE, Grace CURRAN, Kate HARRISON, Andy KOUMI, Makhesha LEIGERTWOOD-GIBSON, Claire POWER, and Liam SCOTT) and all the IT worked seamlessly, hooray.

Please please please sign up for the volunteer emails - last time I was RD a disastrous malfunctioning barcode scanner left a lot of people questioning why their result hadn't been processed. Being on the volunteer email distribution list would have meant they knew what had happened and what they had to do so I could rectify it. It really doesn't take long... come on, make my day (like I hope I and the other volunteers made your run yesterday).

Well done to all the runners, 19 new PBs was very impressive too. Looking forward to seeing you all next week.

Vanessa :)

Grovelands parkrun – Event number 327 – 12th November 2016

All credit goes to the volunteers this week, who stood in the pouring rain to ensure the parkrun went without a hitch. One stopwatch failed so massive thanks to Ilia Loubenski for ensuring the timing was accurate. There was a huge list of runners to manually input as barcodes were too soggy to scan, so thanks to Sara Earlle (umbrella holding), Zoe Macgechan, Ananya Churchill and David Bickley for ensuring all the runners had their barcodes written down accurately. Naresh Trivedi did a sterling job handing out finish tokens and Grace Curran was a great tail runner ensuring the field finished safely. Thanks to Susan Smith for marshalling and Nigel Wick for overseeing operations.
This week there were 105 runners, of whom 7 were first timers and 10 recorded new Personal Bests. Credit must also be paid to Adri Hartveld (aged 55-59yrs) who broke our Age graded record, achieving 86.29 % with a time of 18:07.
