Diamond Jubilee Comunity Cafe Saturday 2nd June


 

 

 

Diamond Jubilee Community Café News

Just a little reminder that our community café will be  open  for business on Saturday 2nd June after parkrun  and I’m sure that you are all very aware that this will be the weekend of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. A special 4-day bank holiday – Saturday 2nd to Tuesday 5th June will take place so there will be plenty of time for you to enjoy a cake and cuppa with your fellow runners!

We will be providing tea, coffee and delicious cakes as always, however there will be a little jubilee twist on this week so if you are able to, please come along in your very best spiffing red, white and blue!

Gunpowder parkrun event # 30 19th May 2012


 

This week, we welcomed 41 runners and it was great to welcome a number of people new to parkrun as well as seeing many of our regular parkrunners and I hope that you all had an enjoyable experience. Congratulations to go to the following junior runners Roberta & Nicole Pidgeon, Philipp Henien and Rosa Hampton who have all completed their 10 run milestone.

A little reminder that our community café will once again be open on Saturday 2nd June and this week , there will be a little Diamond Jubilee twist!.

Men's placings:
Louis CLARK (SM25-29) (Unattached) was first in 18:00 - third win in 6th appearance.
Mikk BRADLEY (VM50-54) of Watford Harriers AC, was second in 18:35 - 1 previous win.
Joe HAPPE (VM40-44) of Orion Harriers, was third in 18:41.

Women's placings:
Victoria WANT (SW25-29) (Unattached) was first (16th overall) in 25:56 - first appearance.
Magdalena GUZY (SW25-29) (Unattached) was second (25th overall) in 27:33.
Natalie GOSLING (SW25-29) (Unattached) was third (30th overall) in 29:19.

The following runners recorded the best Age Grade scores:
Mikk BRADLEY (VM50-54) was graded 81.97 % for the time 18:35 (second overall).
Joe HAPPE (VM40-44) was graded 74.13 % for the time 18:41 (third overall).
Luke RIVERS (JM14) was graded 73.20 % for the time 24:19 (12th overall).

Gunpowder parkrun 12th May event #29


 

Excitement abounded at Gunpowder parkrun this week as not only was it a beautiful sunny morning, community café day but we also had Danny Norman from parkrun HQ (listen to the podcast (if you haven’t already) at http://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-parkrun-show/id468365187   

Danny has now visited and run every parkrun in the London and greater London area and it was great to meet him on the day and hope he enjoyed our parkrun!

This week there were 44 runners, of whom 6 were first timers and 12 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 10 different athletics clubs took part. As you can see from the stats below, the annual points competition is hotting up amongst both the men and the women, although there is a fair way to go until October 22nd when the competition ends.

Keep on running , as the saying goes…..

Men's placings:
Mark HARRIS (SM25-29) (Unattached) was first in 17:22 - third win in third appearance.
Danny NORMAN (SM30-34) of Stragglers, was second in 17:34.
Richard EDMONDS (VM40-44) of Serpentine RC, was third in 17:49.

Current standing in the Men's annual points competition:
Derek WEEDON (Edmonton RC) 2203 pts.
Russell James Arthur PETERS (Chigwell and Epping Forest Orienteering Club) 2195 pts.
Andrew CHALMERS (Unattached) 1758 pts.

Women's placings:
Christine Anne INCH (VW50-54) of Orion Harriers, was first (12th overall) in 21:42 - 4th win in 5th appearance.
Gill MCKEVER (VW45-49) of Orion Harriers, was second (19th overall) in 25:42 - 1 previous win.
Tracey Dawn BECKETT (VW35-39) (Unattached) was third (26th overall) in 28:15.

Current standing in the Men's annual points competition:
Derek WEEDON (Edmonton RC) 2203 pts.
Russell James Arthur PETERS (Chigwell and Epping Forest Orienteering Club) 2195 pts.
Andrew CHALMERS (Unattached) 1758 pts.

Current standing in the Women's annual points competition:
Chris HACK (Edmonton RC) 2312 pts.

Debbie CLARK (Unattached) 1646 pts.

The Women's course record is held by Vicky GILL who ran in a time of 18:36 on 7th January 2012 (event number 12).
The Men's course record is held by Ben JOHNSON who ran in a time of 16:50 on 24th March 2012 (event number 22).
The Age Grade course record is held by Mikk BRADLEY who recorded a 81.90 % run (18:36) on 31st March 2012 (event number 23).

Sweatshop Monthly Prize Winner for April 2012


 

Congratulations to Chris Hack who is our Sweatshop Monthly Prize Winner for April 2012. Chris is one of our regular runners, completing a total of 28 runs at Gunpowder parkrun as well as volunteering. Chris is a regular sight each week in Gunpowder park, walking her dog Woody and then taking part in parkrun and then walking Woody again afterwards!
 
Chris has achieved a personal best time of 33.32 on 24th March 2012.


The winner is chosen by the event director or members of the committee designated by him. The successful candidates are often chosen for their perseverance, total number of runs and improvement overall. However, we can award the prize for other resons at our discretion. If you know someone who has overcome adversity , personal illness or is deserving in any other way, please let us knowby emailing gunpowderoffice@parkrun.com and we promise to consider your nomination

Gunpowder parkrun event #28


 
This week there were 41 runners, of whom 8 were first timers and 8 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 11 different athletics clubs took part. We also had two junior runners celebrating achieving their 10 runs and that was Jack Rivers and Ben Goodyear.

Gunpowder parkrun started on 22nd October 2011, and since then 283 different runners, including participants from 49 athletics clubs, have completed 956 runs covering a total distance of 4,780 km, and there have been 265 new Personal Bests.

Men's placings:
Mark HARRIS (SM25-29) (Unattached) was first in 17:36 - second win in second appearance.
Matthew FLANNELLY (VM50-54) of Orion Harriers, was second in 18:03.
Mikk BRADLEY (VM50-54) of Watford Harriers AC, was third in 19:07 - 1 previous win.

Women's placings:
Christine Anne INCH (VW50-54) of Orion Harriers, was first (9th overall) in 21:57 - third win in 4th appearance.
Emilia VYNNYCKY (VW40-44) of London Heathside Runners AC, was second (14th overall) in 23:12 - 1 previous win.
Alice CLARK (SW25-29) (Unattached) was third (23rd overall) in 26:00.
A reminder that on Saturday 12th May, we will be holding our community café and providing tea, coffee and cakes so please bring along any spare change and stay around after the run and meet the volunteers and other runners.
