Well it was a funny old weekend. I arrived at corner 3 to help Simon with set up and discovered that I was going to be Run Directing as Simon was having to head in to work unexpectedly.
So it was that just before 9am just under 400 of us surrounded poor Jack Cornish who was sitting quietly on the bench admiring the Stray sunshine. Jack was most accommodating whilst the run briefing was interrupting his peace and quite. It tuned out that Jack is mid way through walking from Lands End to John O'Groats ! Simply amazing, especially as he is doing it in aid of Mind so if you want to help Jack out you can find out more below.
So after the briefest of briefings it was off for three hot and happy laps of the Stray for you lot (I'd sneaked a freedom run in just before, with Simon just managing the one laps run before the work life balance snapped and he had to head off) .
And then in a break from normal and with huge thanks to Colleen for arranging it we all went to the pub for coffee, butties and to raise funds for ARUK.
So that's your lot except to say a huge thanks to this weeks volunteers, a bit shout out to milestoners Stuart MURRAY who joins the 100 Club and Sarah HUGHAN who joins the exclusive 25 Volunteer Club congrats guys.
Just a few more reminders.....
In Case of Emergency - Please double check that your emergency contact details are complete and up to date on your parkrun profile. You'll find a link to your profile on your weekly results email and newsletters or via this How can I access my profile / account? link. It only takes a few moments, put could really help us to help you if and when you most need it.
Barcodes - Is your printed barcode looking tired or not scanning easily? There are a range of tough and durable plastic parkrun barcode ID tags and parkrun wristbands available via http://www.parkrun-barcode.org.uk/ These are the only UK authorised and professionally printed tags and feature the parkrun branding and logo, your athlete details and can also be personalised with your ICE (In Case of Emergency) telephone number and additional information including specific medical details. They come in a range of options and can be attached to a key ring, laces, and running vest zip or worn on a lanyard.
Volunteering - We do ask that each of you, if possible, volunteer 3 times over the year. It is thanks to our great volunteer teams that parkruns around the world continue to happen every Saturday. Harrogate is no exception and without your kindness we would not be able to put on this wonderful free event. If you would like to help out please visit http://www.parkrun.org.uk/harrogate/volunteer/ for more information or talk to anyone in a yellow vest on parkrun day and then email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to get involved.
