Harrogate parkrun #300 run report

Run Report #300
  1. On your marks
  2. Get set
  3. Go .......

All the best things come in threes - fictional characters include the 3 blind mice , 3 little pigs & 3 billy goats gruff . It was not one or two little kittens who lost their mittens but three . We also have the 3 musketeers , Macbeth's 3 witches & the 3 Stooges . Other famous trios include the 3 Bronte sisters , the 3 tenors  & the 3 wise men .  Trios are everywhere - small medium & large , the good the bad & the ugly , faith , hope & charity and The Father , Son and Holy Ghost .

On 21st  January 2012 , 11 volunteers made it possible for 134 people to enjoy the first ever Harrogate  park run  . THREE laps round Oatlands stray make up the 5k ( 3 mile ) course .

Fast forward to today & HIP HIP HOORAY Happy 300th to us !!!

THREE HUNDRED park runs . If you'd run every one of them that would be a distance of 1500 k  or 932  miles - further than the distance between lands end & John O'groats !!!!

With an autumn chill in the air but with a warm  rosy feel good glow of park run love we welcomed runners old & new from near & far.

Congratulations to milestoners   Jerry Laverack 100 runs , Dawn Richardson 50 & Daniel Thorpe 10 fantastic achievements all round and a special shout out to first timer Paige Sato who was the 300th parkrunner to finish today .

Mid week suggestions of wearing a park run top,  any of the three primary colours or fancy dress were taken up by many

We had our very own guide dog on corner 1

And what a wonderful excuse for Mrs Harris to don her wonderful pink knitted crown once again .

Three laps round  - a beginning middle and end  then down the funnel to be scanned by one of our three barcode volunteers . Incidentally if you haven't already tried it why not offer to volunteer one day soon , it's another fantastic way to enjoy and enhance your park run experience.  If you can , please offer to volunteer, yes you've guessed it , THREE times a year !!

All that remains is to give THREE CHEERS for everyone who has ever volunteered at any of our 300 Parkrun's , thank you without you we would never have achieved today's magnificent milestone .

Have a good week all & see you same time same place next week for another 3 laps to complete run #301

Post run refreshments - Join us at Caffe Marconi (2 Princes Square) each week after parkrun to catch up, process the results, have a coffee and a good old chat. The food and drinks are great and Sarah and her team are huge fans of parkrun! It's good fun and you can even get your result early!

In Case of Emergency - Please double check that your emergency contact details are complete and up to date on your parkrun profile. You'll find a link to your profile on your weekly results email and newsletters or via this How can I access my profile / account? link. It only takes a few moments, put could really help us to help you if and when you most need it.

Barcodes - Is your printed barcode looking tired or not scanning easily? There are a range of tough and durable plastic parkrun barcode ID tags and parkrun wristbands available via http://www.parkrun-barcode.org.uk/ These are the only UK authorised and professionally printed tags and feature the parkrun branding and logo, your athlete details and can also be personalised with your ICE (In Case of Emergency) telephone number and additional information including specific medical details. They come in a range of options and can be attached to a key ring, laces, and running vest zip or worn on a lanyard.

Volunteering - We do ask that each of you, if possible, volunteer 3 times over the year. It is thanks to our great volunteer teams that parkruns around the world continue to happen every Saturday. Harrogate is no exception and without your kindness we would not be able to put on this wonderful free event. If you would like to help out please visit http://www.parkrun.org.uk/harrogate/volunteer/ for more information or talk to anyone in a yellow vest on parkrun day and then email us at harrogatehelpers@parkrun.com to get involved. If you still want to run don't let that put you off we have lots of jobs where you can still run !
