The weather during the week did not bode well but when it came to Saturday all was well, it was cool, but it was dry!
As it’s been wet it’s starting to get slippy in places so it will be time to run on the inside of the trees next week, but this week we stayed with our usual course.
We had lots going on this week, from a midweek panic for volunteers to an abundance of help by Saturday morning – THANK YOU ALL – now if you can do the same this week we’d be really really happy!!
We had staff, parents and pupils from SJF running together to raise funds for a pupil – and in the middle of that Dennis Richards completing his 100th parkrun – well done Dennis!
We had lots of Little Mermaids running round with big smiles on their faces – fantastic and lovely to see you all again!
And overall we had 435 people who ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 58 were first timers and 29 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 34 different clubs took part.
There were a few milestones this week…
Aaron Wilkinson got his 10th Junior run
Ashleigh Burns and Bobby Skelding reached 50 runs
Nicola Carter, Dennis Richards, Ian Burrell and Andre Ruigrok all reaching 100!
Well done all!!
Please please let us know if you want a shout out for a milestone as we do not have a fool proof way of knowing who has reached the milestones.
so on to the run itself.... Mike Burrett was first finisher in 16:48, Andrew Dobby 2nd in 17:40 and an unknown in 3rd place.
For the ladies.. Nina Pearce was first in 20:24, 2nd was Sharon Hardcastle in 21:34 and 3rd Nicola Carter in 21:44
That is all from me for this week, Coleen is your RD next week and she could do with a bit more help!
Post run refreshments - Join us at Caffe Marconi (2 Princes Square) each week after parkrun to catch up, process the results, have a coffee and a good old chat. The food and drinks are great and Sarah and her team are huge fans of parkrun! It's good fun and you can even get your result early!
In Case of Emergency - Please double check that your emergency contact details are complete and up to date on your parkrun profile. You'll find a link to your profile on your weekly results email and newsletters or via this How can I access my profile / account? link. It only takes a few moments, put could really help us to help you if and when you most need it.
Barcodes - Is your printed barcode looking tired or not scanning easily? There are a range of tough and durable plastic parkrun barcode ID tags and parkrun wristbands available via http://www.parkrun-barcode.org.uk/ These are the only UK authorised and professionally printed tags and feature the parkrun branding and logo, your athlete details and can also be personalised with your ICE (In Case of Emergency) telephone number and additional information including specific medical details. They come in a range of options and can be attached to a key ring, laces, and running vest zip or worn on a lanyard.
Volunteering - We do ask that each of you, if possible, volunteer 3 times over the year. It is thanks to our great volunteer teams that parkruns around the world continue to happen every Saturday. Harrogate is no exception and without your kindness we would not be able to put on this wonderful free event. If you would like to help out please visit http://www.parkrun.org.uk/harrogate/volunteer/ for more information or talk to anyone in a yellow vest on parkrun day and then email us at email@example.com to get involved. If you still want to run don't let that put you off we have lots of jobs where you can still run !
And now the official bit....
