Harrogate parkrun #313 Run Report

Some weeks setting up the course is an absolute joy. You get a lovely peaceful half hour on the Stray.....some weeks it's less so...

Not only had the work Christmas do inflicted some damage to my head we had Ice and lots of it ! This was just over from corner 3 at 7.50am.

We also had to move the course in to avoid the newly planted Crocus bulbs so it's extra special huge thank you's all round to this weeks fabulous volunteers who guided, cheered, scanned and made sure you all got round the slightly altered and extra wiggly ice avoiding route safely.

IMG_0901[1]IMG_0902[1] IMG_3588 We really were fortunate to have such an amazing band of volunteers on hand to ensure we could go ahead. Huge Kudos too to all of the runners who made it from the cancelled Fountains Abbey parkrun to get round three laps of the Stray.  I was asked if we could delay our start to allow time for Fountains Abbey folk to arrive, an offer that was declined for no other reason than it really was cold and would not be fair to keep people hanging around.  IMG_0900[1]
Anyway after an eventful start  the run ran without a hitch and the results were a dream ! And better than all that after a couple of Coffee's in Marconi my head felt much better....

That's nearly it from me just a quick mention of this weeks milestoner's Gary WILKINSON joins the 50 Club and Julie GILLETT and Malcolm PETERS join the 100 Club and the fabulous Matt PAXTON joins the 25 Volunteer Club well done all of you.

That's it for this week. Simon has the big red clipboard this Saturday.

See you soon.

Post run refreshments - Join us at Caffe Marconi (2 Princes Square) each week after parkrun to catch up, process the results, have a coffee and a good old chat. The food and drinks are great and Sarah and her team are huge fans of parkrun! It's good fun and you can even get your result early!

In Case of Emergency - Please double check that your emergency contact details are complete and up to date on your parkrun profile. You'll find a link to your profile on your weekly results email and newsletters or via this How can I access my profile / account? link. It only takes a few moments, put could really help us to help you if and when you most need it.

Barcodes - Is your printed barcode looking tired or not scanning easily? There are a range of tough and durable plastic parkrun barcode ID tags and parkrun wristbands available via http://www.parkrun-barcode.org.uk/ These are the only UK authorised and professionally printed tags and feature the parkrun branding and logo, your athlete details and can also be personalised with your ICE (In Case of Emergency) telephone number and additional information including specific medical details. They come in a range of options and can be attached to a key ring, laces, and running vest zip or worn on a lanyard.

Volunteering - We do ask that each of you, if possible, volunteer 3 times over the year. It is thanks to our great volunteer teams that parkruns around the world continue to happen every Saturday. Harrogate is no exception and without your kindness we would not be able to put on this wonderful free event. If you would like to help out please visit http://www.parkrun.org.uk/harrogate/volunteer/ for more information or talk to anyone in a yellow vest on parkrun day and then email us at harrogatehelpers@parkrun.com to get involved. If you still want to run don't let that put you off we have lots of jobs where you can still run !
