Harrogate parkrun #314 & #315 Bumper Christmas Special run report

Not one but 2 events this week, that combined with a huge amount of food to be eaten, presents to give and parties to attend has meant a later than normal run report.

We started off with Saturdays parkrun and Caroline was at the helm in her Santa outfit.

Some say Caroline just wanted to time her 100th parkrun for Christmas day but one thing is for certain she was Fabulous as RD on Saturday along with all of the wonderful volunteers. As for the run it was a tough one for most with an extra wiggle around the trees to avoid the crocus beds and a strong headwind. That combined with a bit too much Friday night partying for some of us ;-) 20171223_090522

Anyway after the run it was a great atmosphere in Cafe Marconi as lots of us avoided the inevitable Christmas shopping trip, I mean had coffee and processed the results.

So on to my favorite parkrun of the year, yes Christmas Day parkrun which for many families in Harrogate is becoming a nit of a tradition. It really is fantastic to be able to see all of your parkrun family on Christmas morning and luckily for me I also got to run thanks to Simon who took on the walkie talkie and RD Hi-Viz for a bit.

We were lucky to get a visit from the Big Man himself as he'd completed his overnight deliveries so he came along to hand out tokens and to join all the other wonderful Christmas Day Volunteers. 25659864_10155287498127865_116801448741144943_n

It was a busy week in run clubland with Jamie LOWE clocking up his junior 10 Tee, Jim MAWER, Kirsty O'DONNELL, Mark WILSON & Rob WALTERS have all clocked up 50 runs. Finally we had Anthony EVERITT, Caroline RAINBOW - GARDENER, Ian FOY & Mark WOOD have all done their 100th run (oh and Caroline had a special Birthday, Happy 21st again Caroline !)

And that's it for this week,

Hope you all had a magical Christmas and Happy parkrunning.

Ted

PS We are NOT running on New years Day lots of local events are you can find out which here http://www.parkrun.org.uk/christmas-compendium/

Just a few reminders.

Post run refreshments - Join us at Caffe Marconi (2 Princes Square) each week after parkrun to catch up, process the results, have a coffee and a good old chat. The food and drinks are great and Sarah and her team are huge fans of parkrun! It's good fun and you can even get your result early!

In Case of Emergency - Please double check that your emergency contact details are complete and up to date on your parkrun profile. You'll find a link to your profile on your weekly results email and newsletters or via this How can I access my profile / account? link. It only takes a few moments, put could really help us to help you if and when you most need it.

Barcodes - Is your printed barcode looking tired or not scanning easily? There are a range of tough and durable plastic parkrun barcode ID tags and parkrun wristbands available via http://www.parkrun-barcode.org.uk/ These are the only UK authorised and professionally printed tags and feature the parkrun branding and logo, your athlete details and can also be personalised with your ICE (In Case of Emergency) telephone number and additional information including specific medical details. They come in a range of options and can be attached to a key ring, laces, and running vest zip or worn on a lanyard.

Volunteering - We do ask that each of you, if possible, volunteer 3 times over the year. It is thanks to our great volunteer teams that parkruns around the world continue to happen every Saturday. Harrogate is no exception and without your kindness we would not be able to put on this wonderful free event. If you would like to help out please visit http://www.parkrun.org.uk/harrogate/volunteer/ for more information or talk to anyone in a yellow vest on parkrun day and then email us at harrogatehelpers@parkrun.com to get involved. If you still want to run don't let that put you off we have lots of jobs where you can still run !
