Hazelwood parkrun Event 37

This week, Hazelwood welcomed Steve Barrington as RD for the first time, together with his partner Andrea, as results processor. They both did great jobs and it is good to see new RD's coming into the group.
A chill morning with rain in the air did not deter the 95 people that ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 7 were first timers,(warm welcomes to Kathryn Smith and Ellee Hillier to their first ever parkruns), and 20 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 7 different clubs took part and we welcomed visitors from Cambridge, Burnham and Wimbledon.
Weather and the softer/wetter course certainly influenced the participants. The first male finisher this week was Jon Samuel from Elmbridge RRC in a time of 20:47; Jon also achieved the best age grade result in the VM 55-59 category of 74.58% - a great result. The first female was Freya Bosher in 24:30. Congratulations to both.
There were no major anniversaries this week, but Mark Bosher is now just 1 away from his 50th, and a red t shirt.

A piece of good news was that the athlete that took a tumble last week was back this week after receiving the all clear. It was great him back in action and it goes to show, you can't keep a good parkrunner down!

Later that day at the annual award ceremony held by Shepperton Running Group at Hazelwood,, the parkrun team won the Captains Prize for the individual or group that had done most for the local running community over the past year. This is wonderful recognition, not only for the core team , but for everybody that has helped, contributed or volunteered to make Hazelwood the success it has become. We thank you all and look forward to greater success in the future.
