Christmas @ Killerton Parkrun

We will not be running on Christmas Day itself and I know there are a few weeks yet to go, but we plan THREE special runs leading up to CHRISTMAS this year:

10th December, to get us in the mood, it will be a Santa Hat / Bobble Hat run (now EVERYONE must have one or the other)

17th and 24th December we have Christmas Fancy Dress runs - we decided two as so many will not be there on both Saturdays.

So start planning now and happy running.

Taster for new volunteers – Sat 18 May, 10am-1pm

Did you know..

  • The sheer existence of Killerton parkrun relies on volunteers.
  • Over all the parkrun events in 2012 alone, over 20,000 people stepped forward to support their local event.
  • Each Killerton parkrun event takes 12 volunteers to safety brief, help marshal, tail-run, time, hand out tokens and scan bar-codes on the day. Then behind the scenes there's photography, writing the run report for the website and organising the volunteer roster.
  • Helping us out takes just an hour and a half on a Saturday morning and we have a job for all ages to get involved!

If you've always fancied playing your part one week but weren't sure how you could help, then come along to this Taster and hear about each type of role, meet some of the people who already volunteer, see demos and ask questions.

It will be held straight after parkrun inside Killerton House until around lunchtime, very informal with free drinks and snacks.

We would love to see you!
Please RSVP to: killertonhelpers@parkrun.com

Killerton Anniversary

To celebrate the volunteers are arranging for a birthday cake to be made and putting on a bit of a party atmoshphere.

All parkrunners are welcome to join us in the celebrations after the run, which will be held in the stableblock courtyard.

If you would like to make some cakes or biscuits of your own to bring along and share with everyone that would be gratefully appreciated I am sure.

Also, we agreed that a patriotic theme for running kit would be in keeping with the bunting and celebratory atmosphere; if you choose to join us and wear something red, white or blue (or all of the colours) for your run it will make for some colourful photos that week.

Active Devon Olympic ‘Sport Makers’ Launch – 15 October 2011

15 October 2011

Whilst the programme is just being finalised, it is likely that the launch event will include refreshments, presentations, media interviews and visiting elite athlete.

You are welcome to join in with the promotional event or just run your usual parkrun but do expect some media attention on that day.

Watch out for news updates!
