The combination of a bright sunny morning and the swathes of club colours made for a great occasion as 197 club runners representing their respective teams completed today's parkrun run number 239. But not only was the number of club runners high, the overall number of runners was a new record for the course as a grand total of 423 runners took part.
Due to the great work of all our volunteers the run was able to run smoothly even with the sudden leap in numbers.
But run 239 was not just a normal parkrun it was our special mob run event, which is the first event in our Celebration of the Olympics month, with the other event being an Olympic Heroes and Super Heroes run on the 26th of May with optional fancy dress. But in terms of mob run results see below for a full write up.
Once again it was HYDE PARK HARRIERS who turned out most club members in this annual challenge. 49 red and white vests with their distinctive logo crossed the line....more than the combined total of the clubs in second and third place - Valley Striders (24) and Kirkstall Harriers (21).
27 clubs were represented on a day when the record for the number of parkrunners at the event was well and truly smashed.

Thirteen clubs fielded more than one runner, and the 8 Leeds City runners had the lowest average time - they also had first male and female in the race. Perhaps most interesting " battle" in this competition was between the two Pudsey teams. The average time for Pudsey and Bramley being just 2 seconds quicker than local rivals Pudsey pacers.
