Run 241

Run number 241 was a cool grey day in Leeds, but that didn't stop all our runners from turning out as we were again over 300 runners.

In total we had 315 runners with plenty of new personal bests and a couple 50 runs being completed.

Run number 241 was a great success with everyone having a great run.

We're all now looking forward to next week's run which will see us host our Superhero/ Olympic heroes run so hope everyone is getting their costumes ready.

Thanks again to our great team of volunteers and to all our runners for again making Leeds parkrun a great success.

Run 240

Run number 240 saw a cool and sunny day in Leeds. Even though the Leeds half marathon was on the next day we had a great turn out for the run with a total of 308 runners.

We had many new faces and lots of PB's being gained.

All our runners enjoyed themselves and run number 240 was a great success due to a great team of volunteers.

Thanks again to all our volunteers and runners and we look forward to seeing you all again next week.

Run 239

The combination of a bright sunny morning and the swathes of club colours made for a great occasion as 197 club runners representing their respective teams completed today's parkrun run number 239. But not only was the number of club runners high, the overall number of runners was a new record for the course as a grand total of 423 runners took part.

Due to the great work of all our volunteers the run was able to run smoothly even with the sudden leap in numbers.

But run 239 was not just a normal parkrun it was our special mob run event, which is the first event in our Celebration of the Olympics month, with the other event being an Olympic Heroes and Super Heroes run on the 26th of May with optional fancy dress. But in terms of mob run results see below for a full write up.

Once again it was HYDE PARK HARRIERS who turned out most club members in this annual challenge. 49 red and white vests with their distinctive logo crossed the line....more than the combined total of the clubs in second and third place - Valley Striders (24) and Kirkstall Harriers (21).

27 clubs were represented on a day when the record for the number of parkrunners at the event was well and truly smashed.

Result:

    1     HYDE PARK HARRIERS                      49

    2     Valley Striders                                         24

= 14     Wigston Phoenix RC                                  1

Thirteen clubs fielded more than one runner, and the 8 Leeds City runners had the lowest average time - they also had first male and female in the race. Perhaps most interesting " battle" in this competition was between the two Pudsey teams. The average time for Pudsey and Bramley being just 2 seconds quicker than local rivals Pudsey pacers.
