After consultation with the other run directors I've made the difficult decision to cancel the Newcastle parkruns scheduled for 20th June and 27th June whilst the Hoppings fair is taking place on the Town Moor.
Compared to previous years it is the sheer volume of runners who now attend the events that have forced this decision. The area around Gate 2 is the part of the course that will cause difficulties. We feel it will be impossible for marshals to manage this area without conflict if fairground traffic is attempting to leave or enter the Moor once the runners start to go past and then through the gate.
So there it is, the decision has been made and cannot now be reversed. It's time for Newcastle parkrunners to go on tour (don't try Riverside next Saturday 20th June which is also cancelled) and for Kelly Dodds to finally put her feet up on Saturday morning at 9:00AM for a well deserved rest. I'm going to try running a parkrun for a change - Beeston near Nottingham.
