Old Deer Park Cancellation

URGENT NEWS:  OLD DEER PARK PARKRUN CANCELLED TOMORROW (12TH MAY)

Really sorry guys, and particularly for the very late notice - Duncan and I truly believed we would be able to run this week, but having reviewed the location of the event, and discussed likely traffic between 9-9.30 with the event organisers, it is clear that it will not be safe to run.

Please help us spread the word if you know of someone who was planning to run tomorrow.

Helen

Update from Old Deer Park

Please note that Old Deer parkrun will be cancelled on Saturday April 21st due to the visit of the Russian Circus.

Having got through the Winter months both the Men's and Females Point prizes are up for grabs over the summer. Last years runaway winners Phil Roberts and Melanie Hunter are up there again but this time they are facing some stiff competition.

In the Mens competition 4 regulars are fighting out with Richard Mockeridge (2008 points) leading Phil by 72 points. Not far behind is Clive Tilley (1860) and Hugh manning (1748).

In the Females competition its a two horse race with Melanie Hunter leading by just 32 points from Sarah Hutton, Stephanie Neville is some 600 points behind in 3rd.

Yesterday saw Trevor Maguire win by almost 3 minutes, setting a PB in 17:59. He was followed home by James Merchant in 20:47 and Matt Shurlock 20:48 who battled over 2nd and 3rd. Sophie Tipman made her parkrun debut by being the first female home in 23:35. Erin Shevlin, under 14 also made her parkrun debut with an impressive 24:20. 3rd was fifty club member and Bushy regular Rachel Lonergen.

One Year of Old Deer Park

Yesterday saw us enter the 2nd year of Old Deer parkrun. Don't forget next week we celebrate with a bring and share party and we plan to run the course the opposite way round. Don't forget to bring some goodies and we hope to see you next Saturday.

A few stats from our first year:

In total there were 44 events and we had a totla of 612 different runners completing 1573 runs or 7,865km between them and we we have seen 423 PB's. Our biggest attendance to date was 83 but hopefully we can beat that next week at the anniversary run.

Congrtaulations to Phil Roberts for winning the Mens Points Prize, with Paul Roberts in 2nd and Stuart Green in 3rd. Melanie Hunter won the female points prize, with Diana Dimitriva in 2nd and one of our junipr runners Joanna Tilley in 3rd.

Heres to a 2nd year of Old Deer parkrun - we hope to see you throughout 2011/12.
