Birthday celebrations and Easter bonnets with record field

Easter weekend saw fine weather and a record turnout of 305 runners at Porthcawl seafront for the 105th parkrun. We welcomed a number of visitors including parkrun ambassador Chris Davies , a large group from Cardiff Nike running group and lots of our regulars many in their Easter yellow kit . No one could quite match the Easter bonnets sported by volunteers Maria Lalic and Sarah Grabham though.
Richard Dando was first finisher , with Ffion Higginson improving her pb to finish first female for 2nd week
The post run celebration with coffee and welsh cakes at the Hitide included a great summary of our story so far presented by Steve Brace and included presentations to our annual points winners Ian Ogilvie and Libby Lavis , who retained her title.
it's been a great year with some great perfomances - we 've had to use contingency courses several times but never had to cancel. Our volunteers are the heart of our runs and do a great job every week and we are really grateful to anyone who lends a hand , Anyone who is willing to help is always welcome and we will find them a job to do .
Here's to the next year hoping we can continue to help all of you enjoy your Saturday morning by the sea and improve your fitness !
