It was a fantastic morning with 250 athletes stepping out to start the run, including 10 first time parkrunners. The conditions were perfect for a fast run and there were 6 personal bests in the first 12 runners to cross the line. Well done to all of you, but give a big shout out for Graham Jones who smashed 20 minutes this week with 19:44.
Great achievement for Brad Bradley who ran his 5th PB in a row with 24:50, knocking almost a minute from his last week’s’ time. Clustered around that time were Kate Becket with a PB of 24:51 and Sophie Duke with a PB of 24:56.
Breaking the 30 minute barrier is a significant achievement for anyone, so congratulations to Hugh Wanless 29:35 and Emma Black 29:47.
We had celebratory cakes from Graham Pawley who joined the fabled 250 club this morning. That’s over 5 year’s worth of running. For Graham, it is not just turning up to run each week,, but as the Event Director, Roundhay parkrun maestro, he is involved work behind the scenes. He was also heavily involved in setting up and running the Roundhay –Juniors parkrun. A very big THANK YOU to Graham for the work that his does and for the scrummy cakes too!4
