What was noticed this week

Tony Gallagher writes.

At the Downs this week we had a Roundshaw parkrun age graded record achieved by Lesley Down in the VW75-79 category. Lesley ran 43m 48s to achieve a 55.37% rating. Well done to Lesley.

While I stood at the finish this week watching the participants end their runs/walks there seemed to quite a few people with the same name judging by the amount of times I heard the comment " Come on Mum and Well Done Mum". I wonder how many Mums, and their off springs, participate at parkruns each week? Great to see as is, indeed, the three generational families you sometimes notice participating. There are probably even four generational attendances in some parkruns. In future years, what with so many junior events currently happening, this will probably be more of a common occurrence.

At the start we acknowledged ( with a round of applause ) an unusual time marker - a parkrunner that has been running parkrun for a decade. Justin P didn't want it mentioned but Alex P let us know so a round of applause it was.... eh maths tells us, however, 2009 to 2018 is only 9 years so think of it Justin as a round of applause a year in advance :)

Would like to mention, in case some of you do not know, we have photos up on the website from Saturday's event. Thanks once again to Richard Carter for this. http://www.parkrun.org.uk/roundshaw/photos/

We seemed to have a lot of folk who didn't have their barcode this week including the first person home. Do try and remember to bring these with you as we cannot get you a record of your achievement without it.

A warm welcome to the parkrun family today to Calin Bradley and Aaron White. May this be the the first of many over a long period.

Thanks to our 15 volunteer listed below that made the event happen this week. Happy running, jogging walking.
