I reached 200 runs on my parkrun journey today, certainly not something I ever expected when I reluctantly waded through the mud on my first parkrun (walk) in January 2014. A massive thank you to the Roundshaw family who have shown me so much support and encouragement from those first few difficult months and kept me coming back.
It wasn't long before my parkrun addiction began and from mid 2014 I've barely missed a week. While 120 of my 200 runs have been at Roundshaw I now have a second home at Lloyd where I'm part of the core team at Lloyd juniors (shameless plug for volunteers and junior runners aged 4-14 on Sunday mornings 9am, 2km) and I have been lucky enough to squeeze in parkruns on holidays and weekends away with 25 different parkruns now completed. I'm looking forward to a new parkrun country next weekend when visiting family in Cork. I've found wherever your barcode takes you, you're always guaranteed a warm parkrun welcome!
And now for the stats...
Welcome to Max Mccrorie, Alexander Byford, Tom Gregory, Robert Fleming and Colette Goveia who completed their first parkrun today and to tourists from near and far : Debbie Summers, Ashton Harris, Gary Lawrence (Riddlesdown) Nicole Mollon (Wimbledon), Michael Hemme (Bognor Regis), Karen Sparrow (Nonsuch), Greg Smith (Tourist) Oliver Girdham (Tourist) and Susan Haynes (Lower Hutt, New Zealand).
Well done to Tom Fisher (10 runs) and George English (100 runs) who celebrated official parkrun milestones as well as Victoria Legge (150 runs) and Gary Thompson (200 runs) on unofficial milestones like me.
Well done to personal bests for Lesley Down (setting a new age category course record), Wendy Bassett, Helen Orchard, Justin Parris, Joanna Waite, Owen Waite, Maja Connaughton, Andy Leigh, Ailsa Stelling, Simon Harris, Alex Molloy, Andrew Tett, Daniel Guest, Finn Harris, Graham Ashwell, Joshua Elston-Smith, Christine Charlwood, Helen Wildman, Raffaela Abbate, Jonathan Jones, Patrick Sinclair, Julian Fearnley, Ashley Pate and Oliver Anderson.
Also well done to Roundshaw regular David Alderson on completing his 400th parkrun with the support of several Wilson's Runners, on tour at Bushy - the home of parkrun, and achieving a personal best too.
