Lorraine Turner’s 100th parkrun

Congratulations to Lorraine on her 100th parkrun! A very respectable 30 minutes approx. on an extremely hot day. Lorraine has taken 6 years to achieve this goal and her husband, Mick Turner has achieved about 97 runs or so over nearly 9 years. This is because of their great dedication to parkrun. Lorraine has over 50 volunteer occasions to her name herself. Mick is the main run director and despite being a keen runner, he volunteers more than he runs. Thank you so much from everyone at Roundshaw parkrun. It is really appreciated.

Lorraine shared her 100 runs with Daniel Priddle. He was trying to keep this low key!

Michael 'Michael's Mount' Higgins - did you realise this was your 100th parkrun at Roundshaw? You kept that one quiet. Well done on a good run.

We had tourists from Singapore and Manchester. Both tourists found our cross country Roundshaw course tough. All the parkruns in Singapore are tarmac only and start at 7.30 am in the morning, but he said the weather was better for running than Singapore. Bode Orungbemi, whose usual parkrun is in Manchester said that it is several degrees cooler in Manchester compared to South London. He put so much effort in that he felt a bit sick (impressive sprint finish) - obviously the rest of us are not tying hard enough. Bode had not heard the expression 'parkrun tourist' so I introduced him to Tim Gray who has notched up over 80 touristing parkruns. Its a shame Harriet Archer wasn't there too.

There were 4 people who were totally new to parkrun: namely - Louise Andrews, Jake Manchester, Nick James and Amy Lane. Congratulations and I hope you enjoyed it. Special mention to Louise Andrews and Karen Harrower (new to Collingwood AC). 2nd parkrun for Karen.

There were 167 runners. 15 first timers at Roundshaw. 21 Personal Bests. 17 different clubs were represented.

Roundshaw will have been running for 9 years on 21 July 2018. People usually bring picnic food on that day. Listen to next week's pre-run briefing for any other announcements about the celebration.
