Rushmoor parkrun #233 – Saturday 9th February 2019

After last week’s cancellation due to the snow, Rushmoor parkrun #233 took place in 15-20 mph winds, but at least there was no snow (or rain) to contend with. 456 of you ran, jogged or walked the course, including 31 first timers (welcome to the parkrun family, I hope you enjoyed the briefing!)

Visitors came from as from afield as Colchester, Southampton and Weymouth and 33 different clubs were represented.

Well done to Chris Wake and Shireen Walker (me!) who celebrated their 100th run and to the 52 people who got new PBs this week, which was quite an achievement in those winds. Today's full results and a complete event history can be found on the Rushmoor Parkrun Results Page. http://www.parkrun.org.uk/rushmoor/results/latestresults/

Thank you to all of our 25 lovely volunteers who made this event happen: Rebecca
Anne BACHMANN, Sabrina BACHMANN-ROSS, Phil BALLANTYNE, Tom BARTON,
Eleanor BARTON, Zoe BARTON, Murray CROTON, Sara DAVISON, James DUNCAN,
Clem FEENEY, Mary HEARN, Paul HURFORD, Kenton JENNINGS, Estelle LEE, Grace MCLEOD, Hilary ORTON, Kathryn RADFORD, Alexander John RADFORD, Linda RADFORD, Stephanie RADFORD, Mark RANOLA, Darpan SINGJALI MAGAR, Julia STEVENS, Shireen WALKER and Carl WEBB.

Massive congratulations go especially to Kathryn Radford, your Run Director today, for the amazing achievement of completing 100 volunteers (and at such a tender age).

Special thanks for those of you who stayed on afterwards to go “Plogging”, a  combination of jogging and picking up litter on your running route that started in Scandinavia and is now gaining popularity in the UK. A massive 12 full bags of rubbish was collected in just one mile!

It was my 25th volunteer today, so to celebrate I offered to do five volunteer roles; set-up, first-timer’s briefing, pacing, token-sorting and writing this run report. It certainly gave me a much better appreciation of what organising a parkrun involves, and how hard all of the regular volunteers (who often take on multiple roles) work to make Rushmoor parkrun happen every week. If you fancy a go, there are lots of ways you can volunteer, including roles that still allow you to run, all listed on the future roster here. http://www.parkrun.org.uk/rushmoor/futureroster/

If you would like to volunteer, do contact the organisers at rushmoor@parkrun.com who would be delighted to accept your services.
