Event 322 Timings

At the event today we had two watches recording the times. After about 30 times recorded one watch carried on running but would not record any more lap times. The other watch behaved as normal and at the end of the event had 128 times which matched the number of tokens handed out. However, on reaching the cafe to enter the results the watch screen was blank and the watch had suffered a power failure so the times were lost.

We could still enter a result which has the runners in the correct order but all runners are given the same time of 59:59.

This is the first time in 322 occasions when both watches have failed at the same time and neither was human error!

Recently Jayne (not here this week) who has been timekeeper on about 300 occasions has used the app on her phone. It would seem like a moment to highlight that anybody may download the app for free on an Apple iphone  and the Android version should be available shortly. Unfortunately this morning there was nobody who recorded the times on their phone. The app is very simple to use and practice with so we would encourage spectators to do this. It may never need to be used but if a situation like this morning happened it is a simple matter to email the file to the Sewerby office email address from the phone. We do not need the actual phone.

Sorry for the inconvenience but a first failure in six years is not that bad.
