Dear runners,

Please do take this request seriously, this is not our usual volunteer request!

We hope you have all had a relaxing holiday period and are ready for a new year of parkrun!

In order to meet parkrun’s aim to provide a free 5km run every Saturday of the year South Manchester parkrun require a SEVERAL additional regular volunteers who can carry out tasks other than marshalling roles to join our core volunteering team.

We are asking the South Manchester parkrun community to step up to this task and help us to maintain this weekly event by offering to take on roles such as runner registration, timing, handing out position tokens, volunteer co-ordination and handling email enquiries etc. We are not asking you to give up all of your spare time, but to take on a little bit more responsibility for YOUR run by committing to volunteering at least once per month.

None of these roles are particularly complicated or daunting and training and support will be provided.

Event Director - South Manchester parkrun

Dear Runners,

Just a quick note to say, as you will all have seen the weather today, come prepared tomorrow for a last minute decision on the safety of the route! 

Whilst we have every intention of going ahead with tomorrows run (especially as it is the last South Manchester parkrun of 2011) we will have to survey the route as last week the park was very slippy (hopefully the park staff have gritted following last weeks surprise frost) and we wont know what the state of the park is until we get there in the morning and if its slippy or dangerous, we will again have to make a decision on the spot whether to go ahead or not.

 Dear Runners,

We would like to thank all of our runners for coming out and helping celebrate South Manchester parkrun's second birthday this past saturday. 

As our second year of running has concluded, we have the final standings in the points competition and we are pleased to inform you all that we will be announcing the winners of this years points competition during the pre-run speech this coming saturday (19th November).

 Dear Runners,

As you may be aware, tomorrow is Bonfire night, so the park will be having a fireworks display, we have not had any confirmation from the park staff as to whether the setting up/aftermath will effect our run. 

We have decided to go ahead with the run rather than cancel, however all runners should be prepared for the possibility of an alternative route or last minute cancellation should the route be unsafe.
