Happy Halloween from Temple Newsam juniors!

Hello everyone and welcome to the Temple Newsam junior parkrun weekly newsletter for event #192.

After an extra hour in bed, 48 of you came out to run our spooktacular Halloween event. There were ghostly goings on as witches, skeletons, cats, ghouls and more came trick or treating at Temple Newsam! Like last week, there was an almost even gender split, with 25 boys and 23 girls taking part; and again it was lovely to see so many family groups taking part – this is one of the things I love most about junior parkrun: the whole family getting out and being active together on a Sunday morning! It was a spooky set of results today, with some of you getting the same time, or the same position as last week!

It was great to see 4 spooky first timers joining us today: Jessica Ross, who was doing her first ever junior parkrun; and Cameron Cooper, Fraser Cooper and Alistair Cooper, who were all doing their first run at Temple Newsam. We hope you all enjoyed your run and look forward to welcoming you back to Temple Newsam again soon.

There were high spirits as 9 of you got PBs: fangtastic cheers for Poppy Tilbrook, Florence Tilbrook, Harrison Stott, James Dent, Isaac Gosling, Eleanor Moran, Samantha Taylor, Henry Batty-McGregor and Orlaith Marsh.

Today’s unboolievable highest male age grade went to Harrison Stott with 67.33%, and the supernatural highest female age grade was Poppy Tilbrook with 63.79% (for the second week in a row!).

There was one magical milestone this morning: congratulations to Evie Leaf who joined the Half Marathon Club this morning, well done to you! Don't forget that club wristbands are given out at parkrun while certificates can be found in your individual profile.

Smiles all around!

Hello everyone and welcome to the Temple Newsam junior parkrun weekly newsletter for event #191.

After last Sunday’s terrible rain we had bright sunshine for this morning’s event, and our numbers practically doubled as we welcomed 40 of you to our run, with a pretty even gender split of 21 boys and 19 girls. There were only 5 runners in the age 11-14 category (4 girls and 1 boy), meaning that the majority of our runners are aged 10 and under. I was really struck this morning by how many of our juniors run the course with a huge smile on their face, even going up the hill! It’s a shame there are no statistics for being the smiliest runner, although it would be a hard fought contest if there was!

We were so pleased to see 7 first timers joining us today: Florence Tilbrook, William Tilbrook, Poppy Tilbrook, Isaac Gosling, Lydia Reed and Ethan Gilroy, who were all doing their first ever junior parkrun; and Ben Quinn, who was doing his first run at Temple Newsam. We hope you all enjoyed your run and look forward to welcoming you back to Temple Newsam again soon.

There were an incredible 13 PBs: a big round of applause for Paige Phelan, Evie Carter, Abigail Taylor, Elliott Tattersall, Rory King, Alexander James, Ruby Darley, Emma Hutton, Orlaith Marsh, Joshua West, Jacob James, Amelie Graham and Juliette Burn-Chandler.

Today’s highest male age grade went to Jacob James with 68.94%, and the highest female age grade was Poppy Tilbrook with 62.57% (a great achievement on your first ever junior parkrun!).

Congratulations to Noah Barnett and Benjamin Holdsworth who joined the Half Marathon Club this morning, well done to both of you! Don't forget that club wristbands are given out at parkrun while certificates can be found in your individual profile.

Thanks as always to our fabulous volunteers: Pete ANDREWS, Cath ANDREWS, Daniel AYRES, Ronnie BRAY, Zak BRITTON, Ella BROWN, Kate CRONSHAW, Paul GRAHAM, Michael HIGGINS, Annette MCTAGGART, Brian MCTAGGART, Neil PRICE, Jane PRICE, Lucy RUSSELL, Jonathan RUSSELL, Graham SHOOTER, Paula WATSON.

We’re always happy to welcome new volunteers so if you’d like to be a high-vis hero, please send us a message or speak to someone in a high-vis vest and we’ll happily welcome you on board.

Next Sunday is our Halloween event and we look forward to seeing you all dressed up, there might even be a treat (or a trick) for you after the run!

That’s it for today, see you next week!

P.S. we are missing token number 14, if you have it could you please return it to us? Thank you.
