As the Meadows junior parkrun has been going for 9 months now, it seems about time to make a post in the “news” section!
This should start with some big thank yous..
Firstly, thanks to the Edinburgh South Central Neighbourhood Partnership - they awarded us a grant to setup the run and provide us with kit.
Secondly, the run would not exist without local parkrun ambassador Susan Morrison. She was closely involved in every part of the setup, including choosing an excellent route.
Next, thanks to Edinburgh Council for allowing us to use the Meadows for the event.
And finally thank you to Inverleith Park junior parkrun – they were the first junior run to setup in Edinburgh and so we were able to learn a lot from them and setup the event much more quickly as a result (especially thanks to Sandy MacDonald for his help and advice).
Now the event is more established we are reliant on a fantastic group of volunteers who have kept the run going through some pretty dark and cold winter months! As a result we’ve been lucky enough to have 660 children complete nearly 3,000 runs so far.
So thank you to all the runners and volunteers who create a wonderful atmosphere each week, and looking forward to continuing to see those finish line smiles!
