GoodGym. Good fun

Upton Court parkrun
Event number 317
26th January 2019

This week 168 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 22 were first timers and 18 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 14 different clubs took part.

The event was made possible by 19 volunteers, most of them from local running group GoodGym:

Christopher HUNT • Ruth CROSS • Ciaran CREAN • Michael Terence BALLARD • Matt SMITH • Harbhajan DHILLON • Caren HUNT • Manjit BIRK • Chrissy CONNOLLY • Peter CONNOLLY • Keira PAUPIAH • Jennifer HUGHES • Sara GALLAGHER • Ricky KLOAY • Sutyee PANG • Darren JONES • Sandeep DHALIWAL • Kam ATWAL • Meera PATEL

And what an enthusiastic bunch they were. We had more volunteers than normal, simply because so may of them wanted to take part. If you would like to find out more about how GoodGym works, and how to take part in Group runs, Mission runs, and Coach runs, follow this link to the Slough area of the main GoodGym website: https://www.goodgym.org/areas/slough

There were also 299 photos taken this week by 3 different photgraphers. Flickr has recently changed its charging plan, and you now have to pay to have more than 1,000 photos on your page. We will probably just put photos on Facebook going forward (we have always put them on Facebook anyway, as well as Flickr). So if you want to keep seeing UCp photos, then please follow us on Facebook. 2 milestones this week. Jen Simpson earned her black 100 parkrun T-shirt by running a PB. And Alison Allen ran her 400th parkrun. No T-shirt for that, but well worth a mention.

In terms of an APTOTW (Aesthetically Pleasing Time Of The Week), there wasn't really too much competition. This week's winner is Gordon Love, who was obviously looking at his watch closely in order to get exactly 30:00.

We are very lucky to have the support of Slough Rugby Club, and to be able to use their facilities on parkrun day. So we also like to support them if we can. Next Saturday (2nd Feb) some of the younger members of the club will be raising funds towards the Phoenix and Slough Rugby Tour Nijmegen Feb 2019. Some will be running parkrun on the day raising sponsorship money. Others will be manning a cake stall and a nik nak stall here in the clubhouse. Please support them by bringing some extra money along and buying cakes and nik naks. They have the full blessing of Joanne who usually feeds us with bacon rolls and coffees etc. [please note, if you are running a milestone next Saturday, please don't bring any free cakes/biscuits etc, as we want the rugby boys to make as much money as they can to go on tour. You are welcome to bring them along the following week however....]

That's enough from me. If you haven't yet read the GoodGym run report written by Manjit Birk, that can be found here:  https://www.goodgym.org/reports/much-a-do-about-running

See you next time

Michael
