Christmas Day parkrun 2019

127 parkrunners chose to start their Aberystwyth Christmas Day with a free, fun 5k in the park, smashing our previous Christmas Day attendance record, with some impressive fancy dress on show! 24 runners were first timers at the event, either visiting us or running their first ever parkrun - welcome to you all. We had lots of new personal best times recorded and plenty smiling faces crossing the finish line. Jade Gaitely celebrated her 50th parkrun and Jane James her 100th parkrun - congratulations to both ladies!

A huge thank you to Dan and the team of volunteers without whom the event wouldn't have happened.

If you finished in 15th place, or know the runner who did, can you possibly contact us to arrange the safe return of finish token no 15...

Nadolig Llawen - Merry Christmas!

Aberystwyth parkrun Event number 386 21st December 2019

Twas the Park Run before Christmas, when all through the park not a creature was stirring, not even a lark.

Who are we kidding? We had 95 Lords and Ladies a-leaping across puddles, and dancing across the finish line, not to mention 13 drummers runners ringing the bell for their PB’s.

In the mild but damp weather we had at least 5 tourist runners and 4 first timers, thank you to them for joining us today. Special mention  this week goes to our very own reluctant runner (her words not ours)  Julia Liebeschuetz  who raced across the finish line with nothing but a podcast about coffee to assist her, especially as her sprint marker had been removed last week. Well done Julia for her determination for that strong finish

Cold and Windy – event #385

A smaller field than normal ran on this wintry morning - maybe due to the forecast rain and gales, maybe Christmas shopping, maybe Christmas parties the night before.... anyway, the rain held off but the wind was evil and many runners looked quite dazed and battered when they reached the finish line. Never has the Rugby Club's breakfast and coffee been so welcome!

Aberystwyth parkrun 383, 30th November 2019

It was a bright and crisp morning for Aberystwyth's 383rd parkrun, with frost on the ground and one icy patch that required a bit of care, some cones and an extra marshall... the first truly wintery parkrun of the season.
