Alderford Lake parkrun event number 34 Touring from Telford

Tourist parkrun today - special treat as been patiently waiting to run at Alderford (well wimped out during winter months for fear of mud lol). With my local Telford parkrun cancelled it seemed like the perfect opportunity to tour. I also volunteered hubbie to barcode scan earlier in the week seeing the volunteer rota shout out.

So with my own personal chauffeur - aka the hubbie it made the journey there stress free - I always worry about finding the location totally trusting sat nav and where will I park. Needn’t have worried as easy to find and ample parking spaces. Just allow a little extra time to get through admissions - much quicker though for those visiting again once registered. Shout out to the two lovely ladies who were experiencing technical issues this morning - a huge queue building but they kept there cool and got everyone through.

A lovely warm welcome from the core team and loved the first timers briefing too- excellent advice to just follow the person in front - seriously though, the event is well sign posted and marshalled.

Great to see fellow runners and marshals from Telford too. I met my running buddy Claire and today was our 40th different parkrun location. We do volunteer lots too but yes are total parkrun addicts.

The course is a fab one - I always say it’s as hard as you want to make it and in true parkrun style the pink hi viz volunteer army were most supportive and encouraging. Huge thank you to everyone who volunteered enabling us runners to get our fix.

Two laps of the lake, which I felt went quite quick. Loved the open sections, the corn maze, lake and wooded area and the field into the finish helps you see the end unlike some events where the finish just springs up in front of you.

Then the most important bit - post run cuppa. Again didn’t fail to disappoint- excellent service, choice and quality. Scone with cream and jam for me - admittedly not the healthiest of breakfasts but I’d ran 5K - that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it.
