Alderman Kneeshaw junior parkrun is cancelled on 2021-05-09 – COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

Event Number 46 – 14th March 2020

As a regular volunteer at Alderman Kneeshaw parkrun its saddens me to know this will be the last run report for a undefined period of time due to the cancellation of all UK events due to the Coronavirus. Before I dwell on that I wish to recall the great parkrun day we had last Sunday.

We had 15 runners, of which 3 achieved PBs. These were:

Isabella Hill ran 9:48 on her 24th junior parkrun. Isabella has a 5k parkrun PB of 25.07 which she achieved the previous day at Hull parkrun. Great running Isabella. Keep the running going over the parkrun hiatus.

Nick Waugh achieved his best time of 14.02 knocking 1 minute and 3 seconds off his best time on his third run.

Reggie Low achieved a big PB on his second junior parkrun. Going from 21:17 to 19:53, way to go Reggie.

First boy back was Joseph Hardey in 9:29, which was close to his all time fastest time at Alderman Kneeshaw juniors. That was Josephs 94th junior parkrun!

First girl back was the aforementioned Isabella Hill on her 27th junior parkrun.

We welcomed Jayden Welburn to the parkrun family for his first run. We hope you come back often to junior parkrun and specifically to us at Aldermen Kneeshaw in the future.

So to face the elephant in the room. No junior parkrun next week and for what will probably turn out to be for some time. As we all face the unprecedented changes to our lives due to the coronavirus we at parkrun must take a break. It is important that during this time we try and reduce the transmission of the virus and by not holding junior and the Saturday parkruns we will do that. While this enforced hiatus is ongoing we all at Alderman Kneeshaw wish you all the very best. Try and stay healthy, active and try and find ways to help each other. I do hope we are all back at Alderman Kneeshaw junior parkrun soon. If you’re a runner do try and come back faster than your last run – that’s your challenge! If you’re a volunteer, we have nicely washed clean bibs for you to come back to…

Two milestone wristbands went to Ryan and Bill Dalziel who have run the equivalent of a half marathon each and Oliver France who has run the equivalent of a full marathon. Fantastic!

A Golden Morning Despite the Gloom

It was damp and drizzly but our morning was brightened up by the arrival of one of the famous golden batons :) Alex Watson and his mum Mel picked up the baton from Bloxwich junior parkrun last Sunday. The baton has now literally been passed to Riley Pennington who is taking it to our friends at Hull next Saturday. Thanks again Alex and Mel :)

Alex was first boy home this weekend, followed by Joseph HARDEY (who also got a shiny new PB) and then Jordan HOWARD. First girl was Isabella HILL with Bella YOUNG second and Fern WILSON (another new PB for Fern) third.
