Events this spring at Alice Holt parkrun

Alice Holt parkrun – Schedule of special dates
SPRING 2014

Our brilliant Alice Holt parkrun goes from strength to strength and its due to you wonderful runners and volunteers turning up each week and enjoying yourselves. This spring we going to try a few new things – but DON’T PANIC! All these are for fun only and won’t affect the basic formula that makes Alice Holt parkrun such a special place.
Feel free to join in with any, or none, of these events. If you they aren’t for you then rest assured that your good old parkrun will still be happening exactly as normal each Saturday at 9am!

March 1st Naked Run
ooo-er missus! No its not that sort of ‘naked’. On this day you can predict your finish time but then must deposit all your personal time-keeping devices at the start. Whoever then gets closest to their predicted time wins the mystery prize :)
March 22nd Pacer Day
We will have an identified ‘pacer’ running the course at just under 30 minutes. If you fancy breaking that 30 minute barrier this could be the day to do it!
March 29th Nur Krap
That’s ‘parkrun’ backwards, and for one day only we’ll run the course in reverse….. if we can get all the arrows to point the other way :)
April 5th No Alice Holt parkrun,
due to another event in the Forest (Bolt around the Holt)
May 17th Buddy Run
For those that want it we’ll randomly pair you up with a running ‘buddy’ and see if the faster runner can get the best out of both of you!

Apart from the day we run the course in reverse all these activities are completely voluntary and just for fun.
If you would rather just come and run Alice Holt parkrun in your own way and at your own pace then please do so. You’ll be very welcome.

If you have any other ideas for activities you’d like to see then please mention it to any of the main volunteers or comment on the Alice Holt parkrun Facebook page.

See you all soon.

Farnham Runners run and run parkrun

Farnham Runners are helping out at this weeks Alice Holt parkrun, so if you’ve ever thought about joining a local running club then pop along 8:40am this Saturday morning to Alice Holt parkrun and have a chat with some of the members.

As they say about themselves:
"Farnham Runners has the same inclusive running ethos as parkrun; we run for fitness and we run for fun. Please don’t think that running clubs are only for fast or elite runners as they are the exception in most local running clubs. The vast majority are people that enjoy keeping fit, and being social at the same time. We cater for a very wide range of ages and abilities and run distances of 5 miles up to marathons and beyond. So, if you are a keen parkrunner but want to take the next step (no pun intended!) then running clubs have a huge amount of experience, motivation and social events to draw upon to help you improve your running skills and enjoy running further.

On Sunday 8th September we are hosting our popular annual races at Alice Holt, so if you want to try stepping up to a 10k, this is a fun event to take part in. There is also a 5k, and for the kids a 3k, 1k and 60m dash for the litte-uns. Click here for more details or to enter: Farnham Runner's Alice Holt races"

Youtube: Click HERE to see what happened last year and what will happen this year!

For the 5th anniversary there will be a new 1k kids race before the main event and technical Bolt T-Shirts worth £15 for all distances will be included in the entry price!

The BMI Bolt Round the Holt is very popular, so don’t leave it too long to register!

The Royal Surrey County Hospital Charitable Funds and GUTS Fighting Bowel Cancer are working together on this event to raise funds for innovative radiotherapy equipment which will help cancer patients at the St Luke’s Cancer Centre and in the new Endoscopy Unit here at the Royal Surrey. This equipment will mean that patients will be treated closer to home with less side effects and quicker recovery times.

Please click here to take you through to the online page and set up an online sponsor form, download a sponsorship form below or contact the fundraising team on 01483 464146 / 408316 for print outs or more information about how you can help to make a difference to the life of cancer patients!

If each participant could raise just £20 sponsorship on top of their entry fee, we could raise a massive £20,000 to help cancer treatments at the hospital become more effective just ask friends, family and colleague to donate a couple of pounds each and it will soon add up!

Thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you at the BMI Bolt round the Holt 2013.
