After a week of rain it was lovely to see the sun when I arrived at the park. It had been frosty but it was not too cold.
Waiting for the team to arrive I was approached by a man who asked me it I was part of parkrun. He said he had found us on the internet but had come much earlier as he was from New Zealand and their parkruns all start at 8.00 am. So he had gone for a run on his own but promised to come at 9.00 next week.
We were lucky to have marshals to cover all the points and a big thank you must go out to everyone who signed up this week. Next week (7th) Beginners2Runners are doing a take over week so they will provide their own volunteers but 14th December onwards could do with more people to sign up.
There was sadly an incident this morning with a cyclist who was verbally abusive to marshals and runners despite having children with him. Luckily this was witnessed by several people and a report has been made by Simon. However, a reminder that we do share the park with other users and that we should give way and smile.
We had 236 runners and several tourists from Kings Lynn, Norwich, Southampton, Canterbury and Bexleyheath. We hope you had a good time with us. Last week was Simon Jackson’s 200th run so we all congratulated him on this achievement.
Good luck to all of you who are running tomorrow in various runs.
