A bright but chilly Saturday morning saw 191 people run, jog and walk the two laps around Victoria Park.
Complete with Santa hat, this week’s Run Director Terry congratulated Gwen Protheroe who was running parkrun number 50. As well as achieving the parkrun milestone, Gwen celebrated by running a new personal best time, along with 24 other runners also achieving their best ever times. A big well done to you all.
We also welcomed 19 first timers and at least one parkrun tourist who had made the journey to Ashford all the way from… Folkestone! Great to see so many people giving Ashford a try and whether it was your first ever parkrun or your first run at Ashford, we hope you enjoyed the course and that we will see you again!
First home at this week’s event was Jonathan Rutland in a time of 18:40. He was closely followed by Paul McDonnell in 18:59 and Joseph Brown in 19:01. Hannah Williams was the first lady home in 22:02 with Caroline Curtis in 22:38 followed by Alice Cook in 23:21.
A huge amount of food was donated by Ashford parkrunners this week which will be donated to the Winter night shelter in the town – thank you to each and every one of you who kindly donated, your generosity will be greatly appreciated by those who need support, especially at this time of year.
Volunteers! There are 3 more parkruns between now and the end of the year and as always we still need volunteers to help out so we can put on the event safely. If you haven’t volunteered yet this year but keep meaning to then it’s not too late! It’s great fun and the team will be delighted to have you on board.
